engine immobiliser fault

Post by debster46 »

Hi, can anyone help, i purchased a 206cc last wedsfrom a small garage, saturday on the way home from work it broke down! i called the RAC who said it was the ignition coil, he got a new one for me and replaced it.
Yesterday, i went to start the carup and engine immobiliser fault showed up, the car wouldnt start, left it a few minutes and eventually it turned over, any ideas on what to do next. The car has 1 month warranty on it .

Use that warranty while you still have it, because you won't get much help for free from the garage after it runs out.

Engine immobiliser fault

Post by Moz206cc »

Hi, quite new here and don't really know if I'm creating my own thread or just hijacking someone else's.
Here goes.

Bought a Peugeot 206cc 1990cc 2002 from Japan with about 70K km on it.
Car arrived with no fuel, apparently (the Port managing authorities say) the car started in the Morning, but shut down because of the lack of Fuel. Car was fueled up and wouldn't start. We tried jumping and everything else.

From the moment I got to check the car, the "engine immobiliser fault" was on, so I towed it, put a new battery in following procedures explained here (Thank you guys!!!), more fuel and still won't work.

It came with 2 keys, one that has the central lock buttons and another which hasn't. I changed the battery on the one that has a battery.

Since arrival central lock is not working, trough key nor trough pressing the pin down (other cars I know when you lock drivers door will lock all doors, don't know if Peugeot is suposed to be like that).

All electrics like the opening of the roof, lights and so on are ok, I did the BSI reset as discribed here and still no luck.

I have a long standing history with Peugeot dealers (they are also dealers for Mercedes which I had and Jeep) with being VERY BAD in Maputo.
This being one of the few 206cc in town I'm quite sure I will struggle to get help.
Any ideas ?!?

Thanks in advance and sorry if I'm posting on the wrong side !
