newbie questions about bits and bobs

Post by loftlex »

Hello all and i have some new pegeot 206 owner questions if you dont mind helping a fellow out :)

i have a few questions and it seems like this is the best place to ask for help so here is goes,,,

we have got a 206 53 facelift 1.4 hdi only 51k on the clock,,,

Questions

1) Clutch,, its very high,, but saying that its not slipping and bites well... i have been told that this is normal for a peugeot,, can anyone back this up?

2) the drivers electric window,,, This is annoying me, i have to hold the button to make it go up and down,, i have seen some replacement switches on ebay that have a A on the drivers side,, i am persuming that this is auto up and down,,, now my question is, is it as simple as swapping the switch or do i need a relay if i do need a relay which type and where is it located?

3) Stereo,, I have got a aftermarket sony head unit with front usb and it has a ipod lead that goes from the back of the unit to a ipod,, where is the best easiest location to run this cable too where i can plug my ipod in,, i was thinking about where the ashtray is in the center console at the front,,,

4) i am after a cheap set of alloys,, just standard set of 14 or 15, nothing fancy cheap and cheerfull would be great and prefrably in the cheshire area, i keep on seeing sets for £80,, but always in bloody birmingham.. lol

5) this car has not got a factory fitted alarm, i have seen the alarm moduals on ebay, now is it as simple as finding the connector and plugging it in? or is there all sorts of stuff i need to do?

i think thats about it for now :)

thanks for your help and advice

1/ Clutch shouldn't be overly high
2,5 & 6/ Apart from the nessesary parts, this would also require enabling in the BSI. Not a straightforward job.
3/ Sounds good to me
4/Use a courier to collect for you. I have used these people before.
Cheers Col.

1. Our clutch bites high on our 1.4hdi .. but that has happened over time. and it's been used to teach three kids to drive. So I'd assume that it will need replacing soon with 105K on the clock. It's a hydraulic clutch so adjusts itself. One it starts to slip, it's time to get the gearbox off.

Anything on the electrics side of a post-2002 Pug is going to need PlanetPeugeot (diagnostic). So if you are planning to swap out the factory-fit radio, don't be surprised if something doesn't work! You will probably need to swap over the red/yellow feed lines and the stalk on the column will need an adaptor. I'm pretty sure the BSI unit will get it's knickers in a twist too once the radio is missing!

I've had to reconfigure the BSI on ours just to add to rear speakers and get the standard radio to work on AM! It's a basic Style model so rear speakers weren't fitted and the daft dealer who swapped out the radio/cassette for a radio/CD when we bought it forgot to set it up properly. Couldn't be bothered to take it back as there isn't much on MW/LW that I listen to, so did it myself eventually.
