Hi again
Is it a big job to change wheel bearings.
There's a slight droaning when on motorways/dual carridgeways etc, feels like its coming from the front right wheel and have been told it may be the bearings, its doesn't feel like a huge issue but want to get everything sorted out so the car is as good as it can be considering the age and want to make the most of the car during the summer.
Thanks
Julie xx

Re: bearings
Not for beginners I would say. Wheel, hub, brake caliper and disc off, then complete suspension strut off, then press out old bearing / press in new.
Lot more to it than that, but if this hasn't put you off we can do a more detailed "how to"

Re: bearings
Thanks for the reply.
Doesn't sound like an easy job for the hubby to have a crack at it! A call to dad may be in order lol.

Re: bearings
You can get new hubs with the bearings already installed ... these will be easier but a bit more expensive. Getting the hub nut off will need a long breaker bar and/or an impact driver.
You'll need a hub puller but it's likely the inner part of the bearing will remain attached to the stub axle. The best way to get that off is to grind it down so it's thin and then a sharp whack with a chisel and hammer will split it. This is how I did the bearing on my Alfa ... it will be similar. Just don't grind the stub axle!!
To get the hub on, I used the old hub nut to force it back on. Then took the old nut off and replaced it with a new one ... most are not reusable. The nut will need a torque wrench and 200-300 ft lb which is beyond most normal ones.
I got my hub from carpart4less .. it's EuroCarParts but it's a bit cheaper and internet only ...
