I can only say from a 2.0 point of view but I doubt it's very different. Take off the engine cover, then unscrew the coil pack (the wide plastic thing that is about 8" long). This then exposes the recessed spark plugs.

Be very careful when moving the breather pipe out of the way, they get brittle with age and new ones are expensive. If you take care you won't break it.

Out of interest is the breather pipe under any pressure?
Mine snapped last October and I inserted a new section and sealed it up, although not ideal it seemed to stop the oil leaking. I'm just wondering if there are any adverse side effects from this?

No pressure, but any leaks can cause poor running.
