I got a 2003 206cc at knock down price as the roof wasn't functioning.
This is what I have investigated and tried to far.
1.When I release the two roof catches there is no beeping or indication they have been released (should there be?)
2.I have checked that the two white hooks next to the hinges in the boot are in the correction position and fully inserted
3.The luggage cover is correctly located in the boot and operates the micro switch (i haven't done an electrical test, but you can see and hear the switch being operated)
4.The micro switch for the boot lock hasn't been tested electrically but does switch mechanically
5.Fluid level for the rams is where it should be
6.I have removed the SH fuse, left it out for 30 mins but that hasn't made any difference
One thing that I do know is that the small nearside window did have a leak and the previous owner had the window removed and new seals put in. She did say that water was getting in through that window so I am wondering if there is anything in that area that is related to the operation of the roof. I don't want to take the rear seats and bits out if there isn't anything in there that may have suffered water damage.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Many Thanks
Simon

Re: Roof not operating
Yes, there should be a bong as soon as you undo the second of the roof catches.
If there isn't then it could well be a stuck micro-switch in one of the strikers at the top of the A-pillar.
Undo both catches, remove each sun visor in turn, then remove the screw that attaches the A-pillar trim to the windscreen surround, pull back the top of the trim to reveal the micro-switch and with the ignition on wiggle the lever to check that you can hear it clicking. That may make the bong sound happen, in which case you just need to see if the micro-switch had got sticky or wasn't being operated properly.
So while you've got it dismantled/accessible, check that each roof catch operates its micro-switch as it should.
If the catches get stiff through lack of lubrication and suddenly snap into place, the violent bang can break the tiny plastic lever that operates the micro-switch. Then it's a new striker assembly (which are going to get more and more difficult to find 2nd hand). And it's a problem that is going to get more and more frequent on this site.
This is exactly the problem that I sorted with someone's roof just last night.
A bit of WD40 on the roof catch pivots would have prevented the problem occurring in the first place.

Re: Roof not operating
Your right, one of the micro switches is stuck, when I gave it a prod I got the bong. Just going to do a quick search on ebay for one. I will test the roof once I have replaced it. I don't want to wiggle the switch so the roof goes down and then end up with another problem. Probably best to fix and then test as I find problems. Many thanks for the help. I will post here when I have an update.

Re: Roof not operating
If you can just get it to a point where opening and closing both latches reliably gives you the bong (pardon missus?!?) then it's probably worth starting the engine and giving it a proper test.

Re: Roof not operating
OK, I have removed the microswitch and operated it probably about 20 times to free it up to the point where I put everything back together and the roof has gone up and down twice without any problems, so that switch was the culprit. Waiting to here back from a couple of people on ebay to see if they have them (why have they all got the drivers side and not the passenger side, sigh). I can get one from a main dealer but it's £71 plus VAT for the kit! Before anyone asks, the micro switches are handed as they have lugs to hold them in place, so you can't put them on the opposite side of the car, unless you tried to glue them in place and thats just asking for trouble.

Re: Roof not operating
Maybe it's not ethical or as safe but I'm sure you could do some electrical wring to make the car think the micro-switch is permanently open (i.e. the catch is undone on that side). That way you can just use the roof normally. Not ideal but cheaper than £71.

Re: Roof not operating
No. The constant beeping would drive you mad! (don't think the roof would work anyway) If it didn't need all the switches, they wouldn't have fitted them.I'm sure you could do some electrical wring to make the car think the micro-switch is permanently open (i.e. the catch is undone on that side). Re: Roof not operating
As I got the same problem as Simon on my driver side, probably caused by what Enright described ("-...the catches get stiff through lack of lubrication and suddenly snap into place, the violent bang can break the tiny plastic lever that operates the micro-switch..."), would you say it's safe for me as a newbie/"very non technical" guy to replace it, or better drive to Peugeot to let them do it?
(guess I as "very non technical" bought the wrong car, but I couldn't resist it...)

Why not have a go? It's not hard, and if you can't manage it you can always take it elsewhere later.
Cheers Col.

Re: Roof not operating
I get a lot of CC parts from these guys on fleabay http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/pug206cc-spar ... 1543.l2533
If he's not listing the part you want contact them and see if they have it in stock
My other route is just to contact people of fleabay who are breaking cars and see if they still have the part you want ... it's got me out of a hole or two ...
