Please help!! I have looked for same problem! ****FIXED****

Post by G3N »

Hi I'm really sorry if this has Already been covered but I have searched google and these boards for hours! I bought my 02 206cc yesterday!!! The roof was fine but since getting it home is being very intermittent some times it goes down first time others the boot starts going then stops and starts then when it gets to fully open it jumps bounces and jerks but the roof doesn't even try and go back then will just work! I found this video on YouTube although not mine is the exact same thing happening! Any help appreciated!

Could be low on fluid or hydraulic pressure relief screw loose ( the one the Allen key in your toolkit fits)

Is that something that is easy to check or fix? I was considering taking it to peugeot on Monday but have a feeling it may cost me a fortune!!!

Unless you are used to working on cars I would take it to Peugeot. Otherwise you could simply make things worse and end up with an even bigger bill as a result.

If you want to have a go yourself, if you carry out searches on this forum in the roof section you will get an idea of what is involved.
e.g.
http://www.peugeot206cc.co.uk/repair-20 ... im01f3.htm
http://www.peugeot206cc.co.uk/viewtopic ... 7&p=114385
http://www.peugeot206cc.co.uk/viewtopic ... 1&p=115676

You'll probably notice that the roof mechanism and microswitch arrangements appear quite complex which is why I'd take the car to Peugeot. But if you want to have a go, and have a decent toolkit, and somewhere dry to store the car while you work on it, someone on here will try to help when you get stuck. You may still find yourself back at Peugeot with a bigger bill though!

Are you feeling brave, or lucky?

About ready to give up :( I took it for the roof ecu to be read and it came up that the boot timing was too slow but worked every time he tried it, since then just as stabs In the dark I have had hydraulic fluid topped up and a new battery and still same problem! Mechanic came and met me at work yesterday and it worked every time! Got home and nope nothing!!! Now my boot seems to go up alot slower than my moms on the occasions is does go up so next plan was to replace pump.....peugeot want like 1200 :( and I can't find any other car garage that will do the work, does anybody have any other ideas however random I can just try???? Or even something simple I overlooking????

If it works every time the mechanic does it - think - what are you doing differently? Do you leave the engine running for example? I never operate the roof without the engine running.

Could be that your battery is starting to show signs of dying (very common in this weather), but as GM hints at - it's a VERY power-hungry system and will soon flatten it without help from the engine and alternator.

Always leave the engine running! The first mechanic who did the ecu reading revved the car and it worked so that is why we thought battery and replaced it, but then it still wouldn't work!! The next mechanic came to meet me at work we walked into car park I got in started car tried to do roof and went up and down 5 times before he said he couldnt fix what wasnt broken! so i got home tried again and the boot when up about 10cm and stopped like I had let go of the button then stop start stop start until I had to push the boot down and press the button to close the roof to get it to lock :(

I love my little car just want it work!!!!!

Not the main roof switch? If you are holding it and it stops it could be broken or breaking ... it will pop out with a gentle help with a thin blade or screwdriver and the switch unplugs easily. Check for cracks, etc. Ours broke off one afternoon .. with very little pressure! :(

Good idea gazza82 about roof switch - could cause intermittent working. If so a new switch could do it - I wonder, does Enright have a spare switch available from the car he is breaking?

Capncol - congratulations on your 1,000th post!
