this link will take you to a site i belong to when i had my smart car, the roadster model was the worst but the outcome is the same with the electrics, kane (mr evil ) myself and a few others helped build the site for others to use.

that looks like a good idea, once I have the lights and leak fixed I will see if any of that can be done, I dont think I can do anything about the lights over the weekend as I have tried everything I can, apart from trying another fuse box but the internal fuse box may have the bsi in it so I don't know if that's easier said than done, the auto electrician cant have a look till Monday afternoon

leak would have to be either on the same level or above the fuse box as water will only travel along or down naturally, if you change the bsi it will need coding to the car with the ecu. my guess is the water is coming in along the wiring loom from the engine bay, get someone to put water on the gromet and check from the inside for any ingress through the loom gromit which is a rubber sealing the wires that could have perished hence the water.

hi sorry for being a pest but if I do change the fuse box in the glove box, is that the bsi or just a fuse box ? anyway if I do change it do I need to change anything else along with it ? and do I need to re-code it ? and how do I do that ?

A new BSI can only be coded by a Peugeot dealer.

You can't really use a 2nd hand one as they are coded to the engine ECU as part of the imobiliser etc. Also the BSI is set up for the options fitted to your car, hence coded to the car. If you go the 2nd hand route you are opening a can of worms as you will need the ECU and keys as well as the BSI from the donor vehicle, and there are different variants. See hereIt's a long thread but he starts hitting the BSI / ECU problem on page 4. He ended up buying a complete scrap car to get all the bits he needed.

I would get your BSI repaired Try ACTronics 01206849920. It may well need recoding by Peugeot afterwards, depending whether they have to "virginise" it or not.
Cheers Col.

a new bsi is about £580 i think if i remeber correctly, the opotions on your car doesnt matter as the dealer will order it blank anyway and configure it to your car, all the options it has ect.
you can use a second hand bsi, you can ask them if they can try a second hand bsi im sure ive tried it before and it worked, dont quote me on that tho, as you can configure everything on it, like the vin number ect

Already told you what I would do

I typed up a comprehensive reply as to why you should not use 2nd hand and even posted a link to someone who is quite experianced at fixing cars, and he came unstuck using a 2nd hand one. Did you not check the link? Buy 2nd hand at your peril
Cheers Col.
