Have my heart set on a Peugeot 206 1.6 ALLURE 2DR / AC / SILVER GREY LEATHER - I haven't had any luck with cars in the past so thought I would try to research -
It's a 05 plate and 66,000 miles - with dealer service history, I've had a quick test drive as its currently awaiting a valet and new wing mirror, it felt ok but I'm driving an automatic at the moment so the hubby is going to have a drive of it Tuesday -
So (a long winded post sorry) what should we be looking for, I can send him with a list
Thank you in anticipation and hopefully will be putting in more of an appearance - fingers crossed!
Check everything works especially the roof (more than once) Should start easily and run smoothly from the off. If you or hubby are not too good on modern cars, take along someone who is, or even get an RAC check or similar. It's due a cam belt this year on age. Account for the cost of it in your negotiations. Check tyre wear is even and look at the brake discs through the wheels. The fronts could be quite worn at that mileage, and the backs could be worn or corroded. Check it has plenty of MOT.
When requesting help of a technical nature, please give as much detail of the fault as possible along with details of exact model, engine size & type, gearbox, year, mileage, and any relevant work carried out to try to solve the problem to help us help you.
Better still, put the details in your signature.
I have just logged onto AA for a quote - had to contact them, they have advised me to ring HQ tomorrow as the car isn't coming up on the DVLA register - slightly worried now! Although the guy at the garage did say it had a private plate on - hoping this is the reason (fingers crossed).
Best to change the idler pulley, tensioner pulley and water pump, with fresh anti-freeze mixture at the same time as the belt. Not to do so is false economy.

Gotta agree with Ron. £150 is very cheap. This job got to be done right you will only regret it in future if not. I had my cam belt replaced on my latest car because there was no record of it being done as well as water pump, pulleys etc.
i would get them to pay for it you need to haggle a bit you are the customer so you have the upperhand if not you could just walk away, if they do replace the belts etc make sure you get the receipts for the parts/bill of sale otherwise any warranty may be difficult to claim against
