Re: Does the 206cc like the snow
Hi Sue
Mine didn't do snow, I couldn't even get off the drive which is on a slight incline. I once cleared and gritted the drive to get off but it was terrible, then I nearly didn't get back home as I have to go up a hill (we just about managed it, although most of it was sideways!). It was a 2.0 so don't know if a 1.6 would be any better.

Re: Does the 206cc like the snow
Sue. Firstly make sure you have tyres with good tread.
While driving in heavy snow / slush let the pressures in front tyres down to 15psi as this will increase the tyre footprint. Keep the speed low, and re-inflate as soon as conditions improve. You will overheat the tyres on dry tarmac if you don't.
Above all, drive really smoothly pulling away with as little throttle as possible, and if the tyres break grip, let your foot off the throttle to allow them to regain traction, then gently increase throttle. Repeat if wheels break free again.
When going downhill select 1st gear and go down on idle. Do not brake or you will lock the front wheels and won't be able to steer. If you don't brake, the wheels will carry on revolving even if the car is sliding, but you will still have a degree of steering.
This knowledge was gained after years of off road driving in adverse conditions, but the principals are the same when on road.

Re: Does the 206cc like the snow
Hi Sue...
with Norwich having unprecedented snow fall over the last few days and the first significant spell of bad weather and icy roads since I have had my car, I must say although it is an automatic, she drives brilliantly! No slips or slides and the snow mode works really well. I was slightly worried watching everyone else slipping and a sliding everywhere but mine has been a total dream. Hope you are getting around ok if you have the snow!!

Agree Dav1ey
My 1.6 auto is also performing well in snow on Suffolk/Norfolk border, having read some comments above, I was rather apprehensive earlier this week, it must be our superior East Anglian driving ability! Must admit I did press the 's' instead of snow when decending the only hill (ok slight incline) locally.

No snow here yet. Predicted for tomorrow. Think I may be using the Forby if it does.
Cheers Col.

Love the "Norfolk driving" comment! Yes we are all superior...
shame the people in their Imprezas and sports cars do not seem to realise you have to take it easy in this weather!!!
