What sort of warning? Single beep or triple tones?
When my battery was on its way out I kept getting random beeps on start up but would normally get a message on the display too...

If your car is 7 years old or more, and still on its original battery then I suspect that renewal is going to be necessary very shortly now.
My 2005 1.6 206cc beeped once at me the other morning after it had been left for several days without being started so I know mine is about due too. It was a particularly cold morning and the car has been for a 100 mile journey since then so that will have charged up the battery again - but I am now on notice... I shall buy my replacement from my main dealer when I do change it. That way I know I'll get the right battery.
When you do replace the battery with a new one, make sure you get the correct spec and size for your car. The battery for the 206cc is taller than the one for the 206 hatch. Heed the instructions in your owners manual too.
If perchance it turns out that your battery is not that old let us have more information.

Re: single warning sound when starting my peugeot 206
Our 2005 1.6 petrol 206cc has been exhibiting more symptoms of an original battery nearing the end of its life so I've ordered a new one from Bosch Car Batteries - an Exide 079TE EA530. £59.99 including delivery.

The main dealer wanted over £100 for one of a lesser spec.
I'll let you know how I get on with it when it arrives.

Re: single warning sound when starting my peugeot 206
The battery arrived yesterday so delivery took just over a week. It was well packaged and wrapped in miles of bubble-wrap inside the carton. Followed the procedures very carefully for changing over and had no problems whatsoever. I needed to reset the radio stations and date and time settings afterwards of course. Took her for a short drive and the spurious messages such as air-bag light have now all gone out. The original battery lasted 8 years so I'm happy with that.
