Hi all, looking for some help from you knowledgable people
Driver seat on my wife's CC has jammed, it looks like the seat rail slide mechanism has broken on the side closest to the door. You can still tilt the seat back forward/back and it locks into place and there is limited movement forward (to the end of the runner) and back (presumably to where the broken runner is).
Problem is the seat won't go back far enough to get to the 2 bolts (inside the seat runners?) that hold the front of the seat to the floor of the car.
Anybody know how to tackle this and what sort of cost I would be looking at for a repair? I have seen complete leather interiors for £200 on flee bay so could replace the whole seat but is there a cheaper/easier way to do this such as new seat runners or a sub base assembly for the seat? Biggest immediate problem is getting the seat out to have a look.
All help greatly appreciated!
Andrew

Re: Broken Seat runner
Thanks - Now fixed. The problem was the mechanism that allowed the seat to slide forward to let occupants into the back had broken, so the seat would only travel back as far as the locking mechanism tab in the seat runner closest to the door (where it had broken).
I removed the broken piece by passing a thin flat ended metal rod (kebab) skewer up the seat rail from the front to lift the broken piece out of the track and then drew this out using a telescopic magnet. You have to do it 'blind' but it was quite easy to do. You can see it on the passenger side to get a visual of the broken piece.
The seat locks into position fine but it won't slide forward to let occupants into the back (not that there is enough room). It will need a new seat runner but at least there is enough movement on the seat now to access the bolts inside the seat runners at the front to allow the seat to be removed!

Well done Andrew, and thank you for feeding back what you did and how you managed it.
