Post by new206owner »

Well, more our lad than me

Ive bought junior a 206 52 plate/2003 reg 1.4 petrol 2 door

Its oil warning light isnt on when the ignition is turned (when the battery and h/brake light comes on)

Ive read this is correct and the light only comes on IF theres a problem whilst running

Is that correct?

id be most obliged for any answers

Welcome to the forum.
You are correct. On post '02 the oil light is done through the bsi, so doesn't come on with ign.
Cheers Col.

i thought the car seller had had me over but he may have thought car was low on oil pressure - he dropped it from £995 to £780 in a few days

doubtless i shall be back for more answers to silly questions

had £660 worth of cylinder head work 13,000 miles ago thanks to a busted timing belt

That was a cheap repair. How many miles has it done?
Cheers Col.

£660 for new valves, valve guides, skim, refitting and oil+filter+belt?

is that cheap?

car had done 105,000 miles, on 118,000 now

Similar repairs to the 16v engines in our 206cc's would cost a bit more than that methinks.

in the case our 206 surely a replacement engine would cost less?
