car beeps then engine light comes on and also cuts out

hi all new here, sorry a never realized this was a 206cc forum when i joined but hopefully you will be able to help.. just wonder if you could help i have a 2005 pug 206 1.4 and when driving i hear a beep then the battery light comes on, but car still runs, also the car cuts out when the revs drop i have searched the forums and they are saying it maybe down to the map sensor and/or the Idle Air Control Valve which i am going to replace but cannot find any answers to the first problem mentioned, any help would be very much appreciated, thanks mark

If your car is on the original battery then it is 7 years old. Could be on its last legs and requiring a brand new one.

hi think i have found the fault after looking through other posts on here, changed the maf/mas/map sensor wot ever you call it and stepper valve, battery was already changed, think i have found the fault after looking through other posts on here the reason the battery light appears to be coming on is because the power steering pump is leaking all over the alternator shortin it out, so look lie a new power steer pump and alternator required, thanks for help great forum

Well done. On 206cc's we sometimes get a similar problem but from a leaking hydraulic fluid reservoir. They can split and start to leak - the result is the same.

Used to happen with Polos and Golfs too. The culprit with them was an O ring in the end of the cylinder head joint when oil would drip down on to the alternator.
