Tyre Pressure/Accelerating Noise

Post by Ladybrum »

Hi all,

Just a few questions if you can help:

1). Just bought a 206cc Se 2.0 and was wondering what the tyre pressure should be as there's no stickers anywhere that I can see to tell me. At the moment they look as though there all set at about 31 psi all round, is this ok?
2). Also, I can hear a noise when accelerating, sounds like a raspy rattle noise, (similar to the sound of when we used to clip a piece of cardboard to your bike wheel as kids). Every time I accelerate I can hear the noise. Anything to worry about?
3). Mileage is 64000, full service history but can't find any mention of the cam belt being changed, should I have this changed now?

Many thanks

Hi. Ladybrum

#1 Tyre pressure sticker should be inside the drivers door shut as it depends on tyre size.

#2 Sounds like you may have an exhaust blow.

#3 Belt is due @ 85K or 10 years whichever is soonest.

Cheers Col

Hi Col,

Tyres have 205/45ZR16 87W on them if this helps for the tyre pressure as I still can't find the sticker. Also, I've decided to take no chances with the cam belt and it's being changed this weekend as the car is now 10 years old.
Also, I wonder if you could tell me, car is 52 plate 2Ltr Se cabriolet and it didn't come with a handbook. Would this model have the navigation system inbuilt or is that only for later models? (I read that some of them have this but you need a remote control, no remote control).
Thanks
Paula

My '02 2L has the sticker which states 2.3 bar pressure, which equates to 33/34 psi in proper language. HTH
