Peugeot 206 "2004" + Eonon steering wheel control help?

Post by chris_rees »

Hi everyone!

I've just got myself an EONON G1301, It's a great piece of kit, however, I really want the Steering wheel controls to work also.

The EONON comes with wiring for steering wheel controls and they are as follows:

RED : AD 3.3v (according to manual) and 5V according to emails from EONON
BLACK : AD GND must be the grounding of this wiring
WHITE : AD1 - according to emails this is a signal wire
WHITE/Black: AD2 - another signal cable

According to EONON support, once this system is wired up, you can go into the menu on the radio, go straight to the steering controls, and then from there each time you press a button on the steering controls, apparently different voltages will be received from stalk; you can assign these different voltages commands.

E.g. 3Volts = volume up.

Wow This is great, different voltages, different functions, easily assigned by software but not so great after realising the Peugeot runs on a VAN system. I somehow now need to find out how to obtain the VAN data related to the stalk and converting the commands from this into differential voltages for the radio to understand and assign them.

The stalk is connected to the VAN network inside my car and there are no differential voltages to be able to work with so the radio can assign them.

So I've done some research and found that there are kits/adaptors that can allow various head units to work with the stalk on Peugeot's such a connects2(converting Van data) system and many others, however, these adaptors only support latest brand models and not my own.

Models like Sony, Pioneer, Kenwood and many others. Some of these units use a Mini-jack/Joystick Input for it to function.

For an adaptor to work with so many of these units and be compatible, once you get the right cable, I'm wondering if some of these radios work on the same principle as this Voltage differential. I've read many posts on-line and many have mentioned how radios and stalks work off a resistive differential, if this is the case with resistance being different, wouldn't voltage be also?

How can I get this to work? I'm willing to purchase an adaptor if it will it help.

Does anyone know if any of the radios mentioned above work off different voltages for control?

If anyone has some positive information in aiding me getting my EONON working with my Peugeot 206, please let me know.

Thanks for reading!

Chris

Problem solved after loads of research and testing with a multimeter, I've managed to successfully get the van system working with EONON.

All steering wheel controls work with the EONON every button including mute ;)

Anyone who needs my help feel free to contact me.

I'll post a how-to when I've got time for those who are in need of this!

Hi Chris; I too have the same setup, and agree it makes the 206cc come alive inside.
Good quality dvd screen as well.
I would very much apprecate your wiring guide for the steering controls too, as its the only bit of the kit not wired up.
Many thanks

Is it the Eonon you have? If so, this is from the FAQ -

If my car can use Steering Wheel Control with Eonon units, how to wire the cables to make it work?
P.S. This method can be applied to all the Eonon units which with Steering Wheel Control function.

There are 3 or 4 cables:
A steering wheel control power cable +5 V
A black ground cable
One or two digital cable(s)

1. After connecting these 3 or 4 cables, enter the steering wheel setting menu.
2. Press the steering wheel button of your car, then you can see the Eonon unit will display the voltage of the button.
3. Press the “SET KEY” icon to set up the function of the button. For example, if you want to realize volume + function , just press the VOL +,and the screen will show you VOL + .
4. Press the Enter button in the right bottom to save the settings.
5. Other buttons can be set up in the same way as above.

i also have a Eonon Car Radio (Model D1203) with steering wheel control. It has signal cable 1 and 2 and ground but i dont know where to connect to in my car! is it in the plug where Ignition, power and ground connectors are? there is also 2 pins for direct VAN-Bus connection. Or do you mean on the steering wheel itself, so i would have to remove something on my car to get to a plug there? Could you post a picture to help me where to connect to. thanks

Do you think this unit would fit http://www.milion.com/details.aspx?pro_ ... t_no=D1308. It says it has steering wheel control.

It says it will work with any car that has an "analog-to-digital conversion" control system
