Not amused!

Post by Chushpie »

I am a VERY unhappy bunny. I was on my way home from work for my lunch just over an hour ago and someone has pulled out of a side street and run into my car! The front drivers side wing and door are an absolute mess.

The woman has admitted that she didn't see me and was very apologetic but I'm fuming

Just waiting for a call from the insurance company to arrange taking my car away and dropping off a courtesy car.

That's a bummer! At least it doesn't sound like you were hurt. and cars can be fixed. Least you have her details.
We have had 4 or 5 accidents in our household where the guilty party has scarpered!
This was the last one back last year. Written off. The Upside is Wife got a 206cc instead.

Looking at your picture, I've been extremely lucky! I'm just hoping that they don't write mine off with it being an 02 plate. My car's in mint condition and I want the repairs doing properly and it returning to me in the same condition as before the accident.

The insurance company have just got back to me, my car's being collected tomorrow evening after work and a courtesy car dropped off. I'm glad it's a bad forecast for the weekend (sorry everyone else), I'd have been gutted if the sun was shining and I couldn't put the roof down. Can't see them dropping off a cabriolet - told them I'm not bothered what it is as long as I can fit a German Shepherd in the back!

Here's the damage to my car :(

I'm just worried about the quality of the repairs that will be carried out. I really don't want them to use filler and want the panels replacing but on speaking to a friend who works for an accident repair company, it doesn't seem like I have a say in the matter. I'll see what they say tomorrow after they take my car away.

Not looking forward to my courtesy car. I've requested a Zonda but I don't reckon I'll get one!!! :hyper:

insist on repair from the third party through your insurance otherwise that looks like a CAT D write off

Yeah, that's what I'm doing. I'm going to ring my insurance this morning to check that she has admitted liability like she did at the scene. I don't have any witnesses, the men in the council wagon that saw it happen blanked me and drove off when I asked for their help!

The last thing I want is a write off, I won't get anywhere near what it's worth and I think I'd struggle getting another, exactly the same, in such good condition. :(

is yours the pearlesent paint (exl)? if so more cost, shame if they write it off thats a nice car. you could buy it back from the insurance comp and either repair it or strip it for parts. good luck i hope they repair it for you.

Hi Shadow

No, mines a special edition Black/Silver so it's a solid black. I'm not a fan of metallic black paint so it took me a while to find one, that's why I don't want it writing off.

I've just had a 61 plate silver 2.0 Astra diesel dropped off at work so I'll try it out in my lunch hour.

I've stressed the importance of having proper replacement parts this morning, not just repair and fill. I've to tell the chap that takes my car away this afternoon and make sure it's logged on his paperwork.

What a faff!!!

Hi

I can totally empathise with you. I would be absolutley gutted, as you are.
On a more positive note, the car I had before my 206cc was a W reg corsa. Someone ran into the back of it and the boot wouldn't close and the rear colour coded bumper was badly damaged. I thought it would be written off for sure but they repaired it and made an excellent job of it. The cost of the repair was £980!!! I'm sure that was more than the car was worth as I sold it a month later for £700. So you never know, think positive and I'll keep my fingers xd for you

Thanks everyone. I'm hoping to hear something tomorrow. It was so undignified watching my car being taken away on the back of a recovery vehicle!

The Astra courtesy car is sooooooo boring! It's got one of those stupid stop/start engines too which is quite annoying.

Will let you know what happens.

Thanks craigdmjv, that's good to know.

I've just rung the body repair company (Karl Vella in Preston) but it hasn't even been looked at yet! They have said that they'll put it to the top of the list. No idea how long these things take but it's certainly not looking good for getting it back for weekend :(

The body repair company have got back to me, this is what they are planning:

New front wing and door skin (both genuine Pug parts)
New middle strip (that runs length of car)
Front alloy refurbishment
Wheel alignment (I only had it laser aligned 3 weeks ago when I got my new tyres)
Paint cill which has been scratched
Paint rear quarter to match "with it being metallic paint"

"Metallic paint?? It isn't metaillic paint!! Please don't paint one side of my car in metallic paint!!!" :yikes:

He's going to make sure they use the right one :hot:

Just waiting for authorisation which can take up to 2 days, then around 4 working days for the repairs. They reckon it'll probably be the end of next week before I get it back so I'll have to drive my bus of a courtesy car round for the time being.

Quick update:-

What a relief, the repairs to my car have now been authorised at a cost of £1850.00! All being well, I should get it back NEXT Friday (it would have been sooner if it wasn't for the bank holiday weekend).

As they are refurbishing one of my alloys, I have asked them to do the other 3 as both the nearside wheels were scuffed when I bought it, so it will cost £50.00 per wheel. I'm quite pleased as I get 4 done for the price of 3! :excite:

Roll on next Friday! :big-grin:
