Hi,
Recently been working on my girlfriends car. Had to take 2 wheels off to take to get tyres on (car sorn) and then i did the back brakes.
One wheel so far did not need to be took off till today when I did both the front wishbones. I managed to do the wishbones, even with one wheel being on still, was just a inconvenience. Only problem is the wheel that wont come off needs a tyre in about 8 months or so.
When I was doing the other wheels the locking nut key kept slipping, and when I looked the key itself one of the notches was rounded off a bit (bit chewed), when I looked in the tool bag in the boot, there was another locking nut key, so obviously this was a damaged one, I used the other one and was working fine till it slipped once, and now It won;t work to get the last wheel off. The problem seems to be with the key rather than the bolt.
Im now gonna be stuck to get them all out, thankfully I didn't do them up mega tight.
Whats the best way to go around it? Don't fancy buying new locking key nut from peugeot as do not want to replace the bolts with more of the same ones.
Anyone have a spare one who lives in sunderland and wouldnt mind borrowing me it? Or a spare one I could buy so i can take all 4 out and put some others in.
Thanks

Re: Another Locking Wheel Nut Problem
There is a code on each locking nut key. The code will need to be the same as yours on anyone loaning you their key. Is the code the same on both of the keys that you have I wonder? If not, perhaps they don't match the wheel bolts perfectly and that could be why they are slipping.
I'd hammer on a slightly smaller socket (choose an old substantial one), i.e. force it on, to remove the old locking wheel bolts. Then I'd replace them either with new Peugeot ones, or with 4 new ones of a proprietary brand to suit.

Re: Another Locking Wheel Nut Problem
Some good tyre shops have special sockets to deal with locking bolts/nuts. I would have a ring around. You never know your luck!!
They are expensive, so not woth buying a set to use once. I have a set here, not sure where you are but I'm in Readings. If you're local, you're welcome to pop round an I will undo them for you.
