indicator and Ventalation fan

Post by Colin C »

Hi everyone I need help!!!!!
after a bit of rain or on a cold damp day when i start the car the right indicator starts even though the switch is in the neural position and randomly comes on whilst driving however on a nice day this doesnt happen. Now all of a sudden the motor for the ventalation blower has now started to stop and start and the time periods for it not working are getting longer the light behind the controls for the ventalation has also stopped working. Any help would be most appreciated. and thanks in advance :-)

When you say the indicator comes on, does it come on with solenoid and blink or just light constantly? Are any of your other lights on when this happens? As for the blower the intermittent nature of the motor stopping and starting may be down to a loose connection on the blower or on the control panel, or a failure in the motor itself. I would be inclined to check the plugs and wiring between them. The lights behind the control panel may be the bulbs (there are 3 little pygmy bulbs in there) or again a loose connection. Getting into the control panel is a pain in the bum as you have to open it up and removing it can be somewhat irritating as the steel push-pull cables have to be dissconnected.
You have to take out your stereo, then your central facia, once you have that off there are a couple of screws that hold the control panel to the subframe of the dash, once removed the control panel unclips. Once you have it unclipped you will have to manouver it so you can get your hand in to dissconnect the cables.
If all the lights on the control panel stopped working at the same time then I would be inclined to check connections, cables and fuses before the bulbs.

Can you post the model details of your car too please :)

I wonder if the random indicator could be a sign of a developing COMM2000 problem .

Search the forum for COMM2000 issues.
