Hello, I'm new here and although I don't own the 206 in question it is a friend of mine.
(206cc, auto, 2006)
I've read through all of the problems posted regarding electrical faults and cannot find anything about sidelights to the nearside staying on and the offside sidelights and number plate lights not working along with a fog light staying on (albeit very dimly) but everynow and then it will light up as it should (this is without the fog light being switched on?!)
* The problem started with the offside sidelights and both number plate lights not working, checked the bulbs and fuses - all ok
* The owner then started the car and turned the lights on to pull away, when she drove down the road I noticed the fog light flicker, I text her to tell her then she responded by telling me the nearside sidelights would not switch off?!
I popped over to see the car last night but could not work out why they remained on, she needed the car early this morning so I removed the nearside sidelights so she could start and drive it (minus a flat battery with the lights on overnight) I even tried wiggling, moving the indicator/sidelight/fog light stalk around but no change.
All 3 brake lights, reverse light, headlights dip & main work as they should!
Can anyone help? am I missing something?
Thanks in advance
Jase

Follow the electrical wiring across engine compartment (under windscreen) around to and into bm34 fusebox. Expose the wiring from the outer conduit and check for signs of deterioration or water ingress. Pay particular attention to any wet areas of cable. A tight spot that can cause problems is in behind the nearside suspension were the cabling is all squeezed into place.
If you stand in front of the car look the top right corner of the engine compartment were a lot of wiring is tied together some of which can be exposed and can be damaged by careless tooling over the years.
As a matter of course it would be a good idea to clean all the engine bay ground points:- one behind each headlight, Gearbox and chassis behind battery tray. Also check the aircraft connector (below air box) for corrosion I doubt this is going to cause your problem but as you are in the process of electrical bug hunting it cant hurt.
Remember before you start working to disconnect your battery - lead and isolate it away from the battery.
I hope this helps, let us know how you fair

Could be BSI problem. Can try reset as follows.............
Put the driver's window down, lift the bonnet and ensure all equipment is switched off.
Ensure all doors are closed and remove key from the ignition.
Wait for 3 minutes, disconnect the vehicle battery and wait 15 seconds.
Reconnect the vehicle battery, wait a further 10 seconds (do not open doors.).
Switch on the side lights through the driver's window.
Switch on the ignition and check system's functionality.
Hold lock button on key down for 10 seconds.
Remove key open & close door test central locking system.
Start the engine and complete the system's check.
Failure to follow this procedure could result in incorrect operation of many BSI related items.
