1.6 206cc 1st gear engaging

Post by happycc »

Hi, I have recently bought a 50,000mile 206cc 1.6 quiksilva. I notice that 1st gear is difficult to engage at times. it is ok with the engine off but when you have started it it doesn't seem to want to go in easily. it is not always and not only when the car is moving, but it doesn't seem quite right. The clutch is very light and seems to bite quite high so im confident it is disengaging OK. Also there is no problem with reverse. Is this normal for the 206 or has anyone else experience of this and found a solution.

Thank you!

If it doesn't go into 1st first time with the engine running, put gear lever back into neutral, lift the clutch pedal, then try again. Dip the clutch and move gear lever into first.

Happens on a lot of cars, not just the 206.

However, if it happens in the other gears too then it could be the linkage beginning to wear.
