Both headlights failed at same time - help please!?

Post by barbygirl »

Driving along and both headlights went out at the same time. Both work on full beam but not on dipped beam. Anyone know what the fault might be and can suggest a remedy, before I visit my local dealer for what could be an expensive visit. I have a 2003 206CC 2 litre model. Thanks

try checking for a blown fuse as most cars that i have driven have separate fuse for main beam to the dipped beam

Thanks for your suggestion, but I have checked the fuses. There are seperate fuses for passenger and drivers side headlights - both are OK. Seems strange that they would both go together which makes me sure that its not the fuses.

My daughter had 3 bulbs go at the same time. She asked me where the fuses were and I asked her if she'd checked the bulbs. She said they wouldn't all go at the same time surely? I checked each of the bulbs individually and each one had blown. I renewed all three bulbs and everything worked fine again.

I'd start with the basics first. Check those dipped headlight bulbs by replacing with new ones.

Good luck. Let us know the outcome.

This happened to me too! It sounded massively coincidental - but it was just the bulbs. The 206CC takes H7's - notorious for being EXTREMELY uniform. So when one goes, the other is likely to follow VERY soon after...
