Hi All,

Has anyone fitted a multi lock to their CC? Can it be done?

multi locks are a waste of time.
unless you leave you CC unlocked with keys in the ignition then the only thief who is interested in your car is a professional one. If a pro thief wants your car then they will have it no matter what lock you have. If you want to use that money for something worth while then get a tracker system fitted.
If your interested i'l run through the different types and what they do?

I had a multi lock on a Calibra and all the did was break in put foot on clutch and towed it away to strip.

A full steering wheel lock may be better to prevent this

Fit a Tracker or equivalent... Cos if they wan't it then it will disappear..

It has been recognised in motoring circles that Alarm sirens going off do not attract much attention at all.. Especially at night!!

How many of us have been awoken by an alarm going off at 3am?
We listen to the sound, if it doesn't sound like our car then we just lie there hoping soon that the owner whoever it is turns it off and we can get back to sleep??

Come on admit it, we've all been there?? Havn't we??!!

There are now well documented cases of cars being "lifted" onto the back of a flat bed vehicle and driven away.. Even with the siren blaring..
The "witnesses" then state that they thought that the car was being removed because it was "illegally" parked..
This is very common in the big Cities, ie London etc

So if it does disappear then one of the Tracker type systems would be the best hope of recovery..

Has anyone got a tracking device fitted? I know Rob has and I've read his review but I wondered if anyone else has had any experiences?

Tracker systems are excellent...
There are two main types

1. for around an intial payment of 200-300 and a yearly rate of 100 you get a basic system which is activated as soon as you call it up as stolen.
For it to be found it will have to be driven within a mile (ish) of a Traffic Police car (the big Volvo's, Omega's, 406's etc) as they carry the special boxes that picks up signals. They do prove popular seeing as they also reduce insurance

2. you pay a large initial sum of 1000 and a yearly rate of 200ish. But this system uses GPS mapping. It can locate your car and then bring it up on a digital map. This is relayed to police who can then track it. Helicopters are often used in this case because the info is so reliable.
The other good thing is that u can inform the company of what you usually use the car for and if your on holiday, etc. So if it is moved and used in an abnormal way they can check it out.
Due to the cost this is usually on high spec sports cars. Porsche, Ferrari

my insurance would only be reduced by Â£26 if tracker was installed so the insurance saving may not be all that great.
