ECU problems????

Post by DAVrov »

Hi everyone

Just had a wee bit work done for the MOT...new axle on the back but car running welll!!

Apart from what seems like a huge list of electircal issues........

Couple of weeks ago speedo failed and airback light came on. Tripper no longer registers mileage. Every time I now put the handbrake on the car bleeps to let me know "handbrake on"...... something it never did before...

Anti pollution warning comes up regular but no ill effect on running of car.

After checking, the roof no longer wants to come down!

I'm feeling this is all related to a ECU type fault...I know I could take it to a dealers and have it put on the dianostic machine but I'm not sure if this would just present me with a list of things that "might" solve the problems.

Is it worth my while replacing the main ECU and see if this makes a difference? I'm sure it would need to be uncoded but I've a strong feeling that it could be worth the risk...

Would really welcome thoughts / opinions on the matter.

Thanks :hyper:

hey there,

Im having the same problems. Warnings saying ABS fault, braking fault, airbag fault, telling handbrake ON when i pull it up, STOP light flashing etc. This came a few days ago when I was driving into the indoor parking and as the car tilted slightly on the ramp it all started. It has come and gone since which is why I think its a looses connection somewhere. Did you get yours sorted? what was the result for you?

Thanks so much.

Do you know if your car is still on the original battery? These warning messages are common when the battery is failing.

Hi Rachel...Sorry long time in replying...i had the car off the road for a few months...

Did not resolve the problem but i've decided to do achange of the ECU / Bsi and have purchsed from a second hand car....

Hoping this sorts the problem.
