Hi All,

Does anyone know if the engine needs running in when I get my CC on Wednesday?

I have heard stories of "no more than 3000 revs for the first 500 miles" etc and was wondering if anyone could give me some advice?

what I know, you don't need to running the
engine extremely carefully nowadays, but off corse It's not good for a engine to be stressed before all components are running in together,
When I running in my cc I toke it easy the first 100 km and after that I slowly "pressed" the engine more and more....
I think thats the best for a engine is to
run "fast and quickly" but not to stress the engine to mutch...

No the car does not need "running in".. The engines are already tested/run at the factory..

That and the fact that engine materials, manufacturing torelances, oils etc are much better than they were even 10 years ago... This why Peugeot and many many other manufacturers do not quote any running in times..

As long as the engine is up to temperature then drive it... HARD.. :0)) The 2.0 engine especially does benefit in higher power outputs after around 6K miles if they are driven hard from new...
And rememeber that the Rev limiter is there for a reason! take it there in every gear no and again...

I the days of "running in" you have to take the car back for the first service after maybe 1000 miles.. This was for an oil change and to clear the sump of metal shavings!!! Not now though, cos the 6K service is only a quick check that there are no leaks etc.. the first oil is only changed at 20K...
So does that say something about Running In???...

One thing that does "bother" me is that I believe the 20K service interval is tooo long even for suthetic oil.. So I change my oil and filter every 5K, and for the sake of £30.00 a time, it is going to benefit the engine in the long term..
