Roof and Boot problems

Hi Guys, please help this newby, just taken possesion of a 51 plate 206 cc. dont know where to start, but basicaly my roof does nothing? cant open my boot? dont know if the 2 problems are related? when i open the car with the key fob cant hear any locking mechanism working in the boot? when i use the key it turrns to the left but not the right? the button pushes in but does nothing, dont know the opening procedure with the roof but ive released the locking levers and pressed the roof switch nothing happens. please any clues. :

the boot isnt opened when u unlock the car with the fob , u have 2 put the key in the boot lock turn it to the left and push it in , in order to put the roof down the luggage cover/blind has to be pulled closed then turn the igniton on ,elease the roof catches then u will hear a bing sound , then pull the roof switch back and allow the windows to go down then the roof , when it is completed you will hear another bing to let u know its down . if u hear the bing sound when the roof is going down then put it back up coz u have a fault with it . hope this helps

Thanks guys for your help so far! ive managed to get the boot open! so tomorow will hopefully be able to get a step further, and have a go with the roof. i was dashing at dinner time to get back to work so was happy to just get into the boot, what am i looking for in the boot?

Just to make sure the blind bit is pulled across and clipped in place

Thanks guys for all your input! followed all your instructions (hard for a bloke) but can know open my boot! on doing so found the cover put it into place and hey presto! up and running. so once more Thanks.
