warning diagnostics light

Post by neesie »

hey everyone need some help,
i got my 206 cc (2.0l 51 plate 40, 000 miles) in september everything was perfect, until the warning diagnostics light came on in november, took it to the garage where they did a check with the computer thingy...apparently nothing was wrong so the canceled the warning.

everything was ok after that until my exhuast started rattling (its a bit rusted :( ) and at the end of december the warning light came back on. i ignored the light and thought it was nothing again, now wen i start my engine in the morning the engine rattles really badly n vibrates the whole car. does anyone know what this is all about, before i take it back to the garage. help please

If your exhaust system is in need of replacement I would deal with that first.

Otherwise it could be the fairly common tappet problem that seems to afflict 2.0 litre cars. Expensive to put right.

Yours is a low mileage example - when was the engine oil and filter last changed? Have the spark plugs ever been changed?

Good news. If the lack of spare worries you, you can get a space saver wheel which can be stored in the boot. I got mine second hand but like new from Ebay or your local car breakers may have one if you're lucky.
