Advice needed on 206cc purchase please.
Seriously looking at a 206cc but after reading a fair bit on here, a little bit worried now about the roof reliability. Are they really very unpredictable or is it a case of the amount of 206cc out there, the problems as a percentage arn't that bad. Also are there any merits going for a 2L as opposed to a 1.6 as the insurance group goes up from an 11 to 14 for the 2L Thanks in advance.

Hi robp27, welcome to the forum!
I think you're right about the percentage thing - but also keep in mind, alot of peopke will go on the internet looking for an answer when they have a problem, hardly any people go on the internet when there is nothing wrong so this is why you hear soooo many horror stories and hardly any good words. I can tell you my 206CC is an avsolute ripper, only problems it's ever had were because of something I've done! So yes, they are touchy little things, very sensitive to owner-mistakes but I've never had a problem with the roof ever on mine.
If you buy one that has been well cared for (preferably as young as you can go) you should be trouble-free.
I definitely recommend the 2.0 over the 1.6 any day. If I could drive manual, that's what I'd have. I have the 1.6 auto, the most sluggish in the range and the 2.0L is far zippier so if you want an engine that feels sportier and packs more punch you can't go past the 2.0L
Best of luck with finding one, you should have many days of enjoyment with it

From what I've read on the forum though the 2.0 seems more problematic.
I have a 1.6 manual and find it very nippy. To be fair, I've never driven a 2.0, but I find mine fast enough for me!

as for roof
never had a problem with mine
goes up and moves well
best thing about this car is its a hard roof so very good for winter
i would advise to go for as higher spec as possible liek the allure
i have a 2.0 model and i test drove alot before i got mine
i found the 1.6s ok but nothing to shout about
the 2.0 are nice pull well fast off the line and good on motorway
i put induction kit and full stainless steel system on mine too and it sounds very nice
nothing over the top or to loud just a nice sporty sound when u boot it
extras when purchased where morrette headlamps these cost a bomb from peugeot
sp kit which was 4 arches and bumper grill and bonnet mesh
did find the price on them from factory but lost it now
