Hi All,

I was wondering if there is any one out there who may be able to help.

I have a 206cc 02 plate. I have only had it for nearly 3 months and its done 26k.

I went to go to work the other day and it it just wouldnt start. The engine diagnostics warning light has come on.

When I go to start it it does absoloutly nothing. The battery is fine and its got a full tank of petrol, when you turn the key everything is normal, It makes a type of sound for about 2 seconds which i think is the fuel. but that is it! Its been sat on my drive way for 2 days and wont do anything. Have tried both keys including the coded one.

I have a feeling its the immobilisor but I'm not sure. A friend was going to pop over this week with a diagnostic kit but cant make it till next week now so I was wondering what the best approach would be.

My break down does not cover it becuase it has to be a quarter of a mile from home and seeing as its in my driveway thats a no go.

Am I better off waiting for my friend to look at it or take it to peugeot? Does any one have any soloutions of what it could bet etc?

Let me know

Cheers :)

Hello,

I have the very same problem as you! I owned my 206cc for two years now and I replaced the battery about two months ago. I went to work to my office and when the day was over the car didn't start at all! All Indicators light as normal, including the engine and stop lights as I turn the key but, I don't think this means an engine signal. It has always turned on that way, after the engine starts all lights go off.
So, after turning the key the starter motor never starts. All electric systems works well, remote locks, radio, windows and lights. It appears to me that it could be the inmobilizer but I have opened and close the car several times and the system appears to work properly. Finally I removed the positive connector of the battery in order to "reset" all the car electronics with the same results. I checked some of the fuses (not all of them) and they appears right.
At first sight it looks like a silly failure. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. I'll bring a car electrician tomorrow...
Too bad, I really liked my car.

If you've checked the electrical leads to and from your battery, starter motor and earth, and all the connections are tight, clean and not corroded or cracked then it points to the starter motor being at fault. I'd recheck all leads and connections first though. Undo them, clean them up, and remake them to be sure. When you're sure they are all ok, and the lights work ok, but the starter motor doesn't, then it sounds like it is time for a new starter motor.
