Hi,
I've had my 206 for 6 years now but for the last 2 I've had this re-occuring problem. My mechanic friend has had a look and plugged it into the machine but the fault codes don't realy point to the problem, Ive had several bits replaced (ignition coil, spark plugs) but the problem persits. So here goes:
The engine management light is on on (about 99% of the time) some time it flashes other times it is solid. There is no real pattern to its running behaviour, sometimes it starts fine and then 2 minutes later it will just die whilst driving along, other times it will be very lumpy and I'll be sat in the drivers seat bobbing up and down. I can re-start the car and it will go away, or it won't make a difference. Other times I can be driving for some time and the car will just die (quite scary, as everything locks up). The car is quite noisy and the petrol consumption is getting ridiculous.
I also have antipollution and catalytic converter faults appear on the screen.
I really need to sell my car but won't do so until I can sort this problem out, I cannot afford the £80 per hour that Peugeot charge for labour let alone any other ridiculous amout they wish to charge.
Any help gratefully received
Thanks
Kirsty

I had a very similar problem on mine. Once the coilpack and spark plugs are replaced, try taking it to a Nationwide Autocentre and get them to run diagnostics on it. They charge a £50 flat fee for diagnostics, no matter how long it takes, you can get a discount with AA membership.
The next thing to check would be the CAT since it's reporting a catalytic convertor fault. Get them to check the whole exhaust system and the lambda sensors at the same time. I'm not sure if Kwik Fit will do a similar check for you or how much they'll charge but I've always found Nationwide Autocentre to be adequate for the work without doing things they don't need to.
Hope this helps, it's about the only advice I can offer

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little death that brings total obliteration.

I've purchased myne less than 2 months ago from a garage.. I had this EXACT same problem occur within a week of me purchasing the car. Obviously this fault was already there! I took it back to the garage to be 'fixed'. When i collected the car a day later it seemed fine. The next day, it comes on again and it's been on since. Hoever i've now got another 2 faults occur. At the weekend i didnt drive my car but i forgot to lock it. I got in sunday morning and it wouldnt turn on at all. No lights came on nothing it was totally dead. NOTHING had been left on. Just unlocked. Had to use cables to get it started again. Another problem then occurred te following day where my steering sounded awful especially when driving slowly and turning. We had to quickly take it to a garage and they saidI had NO power steering fluid at all!! It must have leaked somehow? The final problem and worst so far, my 'stop' sign has been coming on for a few seconds then goinng off? My car has started chugging and my rev counter gets to abut 3000 then drops to below 1000 then moves back up again?? This happened once yesterday and again today so i stopped the car. I turned everything off, including radio, called my partner and asked whether i should walk home or try driving. He said walk but its a good half hour! so i went to turn the car on and yet again, the whole thing was dead!!! i had turned everything off the only thing was that it was unlocked! So i had to walk home!! Im so cross. I haven't even had this car 2 months! I must still have full rights to give the car back and get a full refund? maybe even an added payout for how much hassle and missed work for both me and my partner this stupid pile of crap has caused! I hate this car with a passsion!!!!!:firedevil:

weve just gone to fully check my car and turns out one of the clamps connected ot my battery is a bit battered and keeps coming loose! this explains my total loss of power, stop signs and rev counter and could also explain the orange 'engine management' light staying on? funny how something as simple as a loose connection can cause such problems! We shall see once repair is done and car has been reset again!

Yes, without electricity you will have problems. At least it is simple to solve. A new battery lead and it'll be good again.
