Hi Im a newbie , well kind off.

As it was lovely and sunny this weekend i decided to nick my GF 206cc and take for a spin with the top down, Great idea until i pulled up outside my flat yanked the hand brake up as i would in my car only to be greeted with the sound of the cable snapping somewehere.

I have not yet had chance to look at this but is it a comon fault? if so does it snap at the leaver end or drum brake end? Does any know where i can get a replacement cable? Does any one have a manual for the removal procedure or any manual that will assist me.

If i dont get this fixed ASAP im a dead man help please!!!

You can buy a new handbrake cable from most motor factors but personally I'd purchase the genuine article from a Peugeot dealer. Use the Haynes manual to follow the procedure to replace the cable.

I don't think its a fault as such. On any 6 year old car things are going to start breaking. Make sure the job is done properly, the braking system is a vital safety element on any car. The labour charge for getting it done professionally shouldn't be too expensive, and might well be the best option if the car doesn't belong to you.
