Hi everyone, I've just registered at this site due to some probs I'm having with my 206cc. It's a 2.0 and on an 02 plate. I love my car but not sure the feeling is mutual as it keeps costing me money :(

I wanted to ask if anyone has had the 'anti pollution fault' show up on their car and if so what are the possible reasons? I've got her booked in at peugeot next week but it's £100 for diagnostics alone!!! Also, does anyone know where I could buy front light covers from at a reasonable price? I live in the hampshire area if that helps.

If you are able to offer any help or advice I would be VERY grateful!!

Hi and welcome Angela  I have the same problem with my car, the anti pollution warning and the cat converter warning is displayed along with lumpy running and bad performance. I too have a 2002 206cc, but mines a 1.6 black. I have had a quick search on here and have found a few suggestions which I'll probably try before I send mine to a Peugeot rip off merchant.

1. Check the spark plugs
2. Check the Oil and replace the oil and filter if needed
3. Replace the Lambda sensor as over time these can become faulty and trick the engine management system into thinking there's an emissions problem.

Mine's been running like this for a couple of weeks now and it's getting worse, so I don't think ignoring it will make it go away :D. But I'm gonna try the above first and see if I get any results. If none of them cure the problem, then I'm gonna have to bight the bullet and send it to the garage for a test.

When was it last serviced Angela? Are there any other symptoms?

I wouldn't just go replacing bits willy-nilly, you're going the right way about it by arranging for a diagnostic check. Seems expensive though at £100.

Hi Guys,

I had a look at my cc over the weekend. I removed the coil pack, gave it a wipe down, removed and checked the spark plugs (which looked ok). Then gave the area a good clean to make sure all the connections were clean. I then put it all back together again and to my amazement, she was running perfectly :hyper: no messages, no poor running.

I'm gonna see how she goes this week, so I'll keep you all updated

Well it's been well over a week now, and all is still good. No poor running or messages on the display. I would suggest that anyone who has had this problem does what I did before going to great expense getting it checked at a pug dealer, it's deffo worth a shot

My 'latest' fix for this problem is - Remove both battery terminals and hold them together for 15 seconds. (this earths any residual current in live system).
Buy a new battery and refit terminals.

I did this and the warning disapeared!!

I have now followed through with the ULITMATE solution to ALL 206cc problems - - - - I SOLD IT!!!:So for the last time -

GOODBYE:D

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

The anti pollution fault has returned. I think my next point of call is to change the spark plugs, as I think they may need changing anyway £15 is alot better that £100 for a diagnostic :D

I'm also gonna give daveb's little trick a go, and if that fails I'm gonna do his other little trick and sell the bloody thing :D

I just had that on my diesel cc, was told it was a recurring fault in the memory, cause by the turbo solenoid, which they cleaned and the problem went, ta ta £80 though.

Haven't replaced it with another Peugeot - thats for sure!!!

Just going to stick to my reliable and comfortable Smart Forfour - had it for 4 years without a peep of trouble.

Bye Bye.

hi everyone, I've just found this site and am new and seeing this discussion started me thinking about similar ailments I seem to be having more and more with my 206cc. I'm having a 206cc "moment". I've got a 206 cc 1.6, its been with me through thick and thin (a lot of thin..) starting to cost money every year now and its done 96,000 miles.. soooo i'm thinking of selling BUT i will soooo miss it, like my last attachment to my youth ha ha, as doubt in this current climate I can get another convertible and feel at my ripe age (lol) i've outgrown the full sports pack/headlight conversion etc also. In all seriousness though, have I really been lucky to have got this many miles from it and am I being sensible in a sell up now before my little cc collapses on me?? any advice from others be really helpful

Hi "Allaboutcake"!

Know how you feel - I am attached to my CC the way I was to my very first car (a 1974 Mini that stayed in the family for 13 years!)

Have just had "Alcatraz" (my 51-reg 1.6 CC, 59,000 miles) MOT'd for another year and have no intention of giving her up in the near future. I have a friend with a Y-reg model that's still going well.

What colour is your CC? I have probably passed you on my travels around East Kent!

Rob :)

I have an update on mine!!!!

Well the cat converter / anti pollution fault reared it's ugly head again. So I decided before I shed out any money for spark plugs (which was my next port of call) I would remove and inspect the post cat lambda sensor. This was really simple to do, just unclip the connection (though mine was a bit mucky) pull the cable down past the engine and through the bottom of the car, and then finally unscrew the sensor from the exhaust pipe.

After removing the sensor I gave it a good clean with just a cloth as it was quite sooted up, gave it a magical blow :D and then refitted it back to the car. I was trying to find a serial number for it but there didn't seem to be any ID markings on it at all.

I fired the car up and it's running smoothly. I have been driving to and from work now for a week and it's running perfectly, no erratic idling, responsive acceleration, no poor performance (if anything slightly better) and also it doesn't seem to be drinking petrol anymore. I put £20 in and empty tank on thursday (13.5.10), I've done 93miles and I have a nearly a quarter of a tank left, which is BRILLIANT for this car.

I will keep you all posted on my progress
