Hi All

need some advise i have a 206cc 2.0se sunday had anti poullution come up on display, booked car in and they advised the thermostat needed replacing. along with the car misfiring i noticed the engine temperature gauge seemed to go up to 3 quarters the cooling fans kick in and then it goes to quarter way.

The garage advised that the anti pollution fault was due to a faulty thermostat so put this down to the problem with the gauage. Collected the car and no anti pollution light all seemed fine, but the temp gauage is still going up and down. Ive taken it back to the garage who had the car on diagnostics and said its not overheating and the gauage is faulty and to take no notice of it.

Im just wondering if this sounds right or if anyone else has experienced this or any suggestions on what i should do?!?!

coolant temprature sensor faulty at a guess.would make the gauge go wonky and kick the fan on and off :)

Where should the temp gauge normally sit under normal driving conditions it use to sit at 90. It starts to go up as soon as the car is stood still once your driving again it comes back down once driving. It didn't do this prior to the fault and although yes it's cooling back down the concern is what's going to happen when it is hot
