Hi,
My wifes 206cc, recently had a MOT, which it passed ok. Today, I replaced the drop bar links, rubber had perished and my wife said the suspension was rattling. Well replacing them has helped, when on the rare occasion that I was allowed to give it a drive....Still bit of a rattle, when I mentioned this she said, she had forgot to show me something and produced the MOT advisory notivce.... "Nearside front suspension arm has slight play in a pin/bush"....Any idea as to what that means and is it an easy DIY job?
I know it would be easier to go back to the garage and ask, except that my Mrs thinks it would make her look like a dumb blond...uuhhh, I wont add no more..
Cheers

I would guess its the lower ball joint arm. Just had mine done last month. Wow what a difference. Cost me £200. The ball joint is part of the arm and so the arms need replacing hence the cost for mere ball joints.
44K miles and 3 ball joints for me. Not great, but my car is lowered so guess thats why.

I think the ballpoints were £50 a side at the independent garage I use. I think they are from Peugeot. Have pug stickers on them! Plus 1 hours labour per side. I am sure the first time I enquired the cost for me to buy a ball joint from Peugeot was about £100 a side without labour. Guess they quoted me incorrectly.
Not sure how difficult it is. Looked a bit of a hassle with my D.I.Y tools.
Reap. I Might have to use you next time. That should be another 22K miles. With my mileage it will probably be another 4 years yet. I hope!
I really can’t recommend enough how much better the car feels with fresh ballpoints. If you are getting vibration and/or knocking through the steering wheel then this is probably the issue. But again do your drop links first as these are only about £10 a side.

Thanks for that Darth Bourg,
I was thinking of taking up reap`s kind offer.......
I will enquire at a local garage about having the same done...
Drop links I have just done, took a lot of the knocking away...but not totally, hence the MPT advisory notice my mrs had coming tolight..
Has anyone on here done the job themselves, was it worth the hassle, or is iteasy once you know how?
Cheers

Thanks Reap,
The reason I ask is that the MOT advisory, said it was the nearside front, having replaced the drop links, the knocking sound sems to come from the offside..
I tried with the droplinks to check for slack in them before I changed the pair. Couldn`t feel any play although they were knackered, is there a test that can easily check to see if the suspension arm is knackered also?
