Hi all I am posting on behave of my wife who has just brought a 206 cc 03 plate with 33K on the clock it’s a 1.6 allure,
Problem is when she starts it in the morning or after a long prior of standing, the car stalls the first time she tries to pull away and normally stalls at the the first junction about 300meters down the road, after that it is fine.
I have done a couple of searches but hav’t found any definitive answers.
This is the only problem we have the car ideals fine and has good response when warm.
we have had no cut outs whilst driving it’s only when we first start the car when it’s cold or been standing for a long time i.e. 8hours +.
We are going to take it back to the garage where we brought it from as we have a 1 years warranty.
Please could you help me so I can tell the garage what is need to fix this problem.
Thanks for your answers
xx

I think if you take it back to the garage (hopefully a Peugeot specialist) and descibe the symptoms have you have done above then they should be able to diagnose the problem. In the old days cars used to have a choke to enrich the petrol/air mixture and speed up the tickover while the engine was cold. Nowadays it is all done with sensors, which provide information to the ecu which makes the necessary adjustments to get the car to run perfectly. It could be that a temperature sensor isn't working properly so that the ecu isn't aware that a richer mixture is required, or a higher tickover speed is needed to keep the car running. Or it could be something mechanical within the engine itself.
Good luck at the garage, I hope they provide you with good service and solve the problem. You've probably found why the previous owner changed it. Get it sorted and hopefully you'll have a good motor with many miles of happy motoring to look forward to.
Oh, and welcome to the forum.

I wonder if it's anything like the problem that was postedhere which I also suffer from. I was hoping that the poster of this thread would come back with an answer but unfortunatley we are none the wiser. As I said in the thread, I get around it by giving the car more gas when pulling away, it only happens for a short distance until the engine is warm...all part of the fun!

Thanks for the link the main difference is it only happens when we are moving from a standstill in 1st gear and when it is cold. After a couple of minutes of driving all is good no problems.

Re: PULLING AWAY WHEN COLD IS A NO GO!!
i have exactly the same issue, mine started cutting out after about 800 meters when i stop at the end of the street and the las t few days with it being below 0 its stalled on starting,
the engine will start and cut out after a second.
mines going to go to garage to be checked over but any ideas what it is? i like to atleast have a rough idea when i go ino the garage...
