Hi guys

I am new to this!!!

Right where do I start?

About 3wks ago it was a nice sunny day in Glasgow and I decided to take the roof down. Unfortunately I interrupted the roof going back up as I turned the ignition! So much to my embarrassment I had to put the roof back up manually with the help ofthe RAC!!!

The car was driving fine and no bleeping or anything so that was fine. I then tried to put the roof back down again without any joy! It worked as normal by bleeping when I unclipped the roof, the windows went down and then a motor noise came from the boot but the roof would not lift off! I then read that you need to take the car for a manual reset that only peugeot can do which I did today!!!!

I honestly feel like crying - they have told me that they have had all their experts look at it and that it needs a new Pump costing £1200!!!! Obviously I was not plsd and decided not to go ahead with it but had to pay 68 quid just for them to look at it! However it gets worse - I then left the garage tonight and all my car is doing now is bleeping constantly. I drove back in but the technicians away for the evening so I have to take it back in tomorrow! Am raging. For anyone in Glasgow by the way this is Robins and Day at Finnieston I am talking about!!!

So I now don't know whats going on because I think the garage have obviously done something so no wonder the roof won't work as something is out of place and maybe it doesn't need a pump after all?!

Can someone pls give me some advice as to what to do next am gutted! I just bought this car off my Mum who has had it since new with no problems at all!!

Your advice is appreciated.

I find it difficult to believe that it needs a new pump - if your Mum's had no problems with the car it seems too much of a coincidence. You've just caused it to lose its memory and put it out of synch.

The white clips need to be in the correct position - read your handbook.
The real lesson from this is that new owners should read the manual before operating the car, particularly the roof. Most problems with the roof seem to be self-inflicted, as you have found.

Welcome to the forum, and good luck.

Hi

Thanks for your reply!

I find it hard to believe it needs a new pump also seeing as Robins and Day have now caused it to bleep constantly which it wasn't doing before!!!

Its now back in the garage for them to fix the non stop bleeping so I will keep you posted! They still seem to think its a new pump thats required and that the bleeping is caused by someone disturbing something while they were trying to fix the roof!!!!! They really are a joke!

Anyway will keep you posted on how I get on and if will try the link you sent me if I have no luck from Robins and Day!

Thanks

Hey there,

I'm in Glasgow as well and have used Robins and Day (or Melvins as they used to be known) for years with my 206cc, then 207cc and now back to another 206c, and always been delighted with their service, however it's always been warranty work, they are quite harsh when it comes to paying jobs, quite expensive - have you tried Arnold Clark up in Hardgate (Clydebank) as I use them quite often too and may be able to advise something else?

Hi there

Here is an update

Picked my car up from Robins and Day today and they have told me that the reason the bleeping is occurring is because of their being no pressure in the pump and that i need a new pump for the bleeping to go away. Am gutted!!!!

My car is booked into AC at Hamilton Road tom so if they come up with the same opinion then am going to have to buy a new pump but will be looking for a cheaper one than 1200!

Spoke to a guy on the phone at AC today and he said that he believes the bleeping is down to the microswitches and not that it needs a new pump so I really do have my fingers crossed for tom! If they fix it, am approching Robins and Day for a refund!

If you know of anywhere cheap I can buy a pump pls let me know.

Thanks

Here's hoping it's the switches!

Did you tighten the allen key up correctly once you put the roof back up as that might be why the pressure's not there?

Let us know how you get on at AC?

AC were amazing - Robins and Day had not put the boot clips in the correct position and my car was unsafe to drive as boot could of ripped off at any point! Have just sent a 2pager to them and their head office.

Unfortunately it is a new pump I require so R & D were right with something but am going to get one 2nd hand so if you know of anyone with a 02 onwards roof pump let me know!!!

AC were amazing didn't even charge me for fixing it! At least the bleeping has gone!

I think I'd buy new, if only for the 12 months guarantee.

Thanks Thar

I am waiting to hear back from Peugeot to see if I can get it under warranty or if they will meet me halfway but if not going to make an offer to this guy. Just want the pump though, not the roof!

Fingers crossed!

There's a couple more (pumps not roofs) listed I notice http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PEUGEOT-206-CC-RO ... 7C294%3A50 and http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PEUGEOT-206cc-CON ... 7C294%3A50 but I hope you can come to some agreement with the dealer.

Let us know how you get on! :)
