I have just taken my peugeot 206 cc for a service. When I collected it I was told that the front discs were pitted, it requires front pads and disc change. It also requires rear pads as they are 85% worn. Has anyone any idea what I can expect to pay to have this done? I am on a bit of a budget!

I'm afraid that dealers will often tell you that to increase their sales. If the pads are 85% worn then perhaps there's a little more life in them before they need replacing. Rear pads have a much easier life than front ones.
Is the car braking alright, with no judder and pulling up straight? If so you'll probably get many more miles out of the fronts too.
If you have alloy wheels it is usually easy to see the state of the discs and pads for yourself. When they ARE worn to the point they need replacing a light should come up on your dash.
After just 14,000 miles they shouldn't need replacing. We have a 1.6 manual too, an 05 reg with 18,000 miles on the clock and there is plenty of life left in our discs and pads.

I recently got the rear ones changed- disc + pad- both sides for £90 (parts and labour). I could hear a squeal everytime I pressed braked- which has now disappeared since changing the pads and brakes.

About the noise, it will unfortunately comes back after about 10 months... Do not take Peugeot brand again to avoid the noise, the is a hidden vice on every Peugeot brakes. I would advice Ferrodo & Brembo ;).

If it's driving and braking OK I'd wait until the light appears on your dash.

When your car is serviced, which is due every 20,000 miles, the service team will warn you of anything that is going to need doing before the next service. As you are not doing 20,000 in a 2 year period I'd just keep a watch on my brakes. You probably won't have a problem before your next service in 2 years time.
