Hello There,
As a newbie I have to say I love my car.
I have had it a little over a month. (2.0 on an 03 plate)
Couple of days ago on quite a cold morning I got the shuddering, loss of power and Cat. Conv / Pollution warning. Took it into Garage, It was 2 days out of warranty so I was dreading the news. Guys had it all day, went over it with a fine tooth comb said they could find nothing wrong. It has since run fine. . . . . . .BUT, this evening got in it to drive to shop and the "ping ping ping" key left in ignition warning noise will not stop. There is no warning on dash or screen, noise stops as soon as car stops. It might be my imagination but indicators dont "tick" as loudly when its pinging. God I sound deranged. Please Help x
Ping Ping Ping !! driving me mad.

I wonder if the bonnet has been shut properly? If it hasn't perhaps that could generate a warning ping? If it is to do with your ignition key I don't know the answer.
If you've had shuddering I wonder when the oil and filter were last changed (was the correct grade used?). I would change the oil and filter every 10,000 miles to try and avoid potential hydraulic tappet problems which seem to afflict 2.0 litre models.
Welcome to the forum Elaine.

Car back from Garage and Boy do I feel like a plonker.
The novelty of going "topless" in the sunshine has still not worn off and I had been driving earlier in the day with the roof down.
Yes you guessed it, although the catches were all in place, my conscientious little car was letting me know that she had yet to emit her final, end of roof closure "BING".
I did not need the power of mind reading to know exactly what the big, hairy, Harley riding mechanic was thinking of me.
Thank You for the advice, I'm sure I will bother you again with other pointless questions.

Hi Elaine, the same thing happened with mine after my boyfriend drove it one evening. He let the roof down & didn't know to wait for that final ping, and the entire next morning it was pinging like mad. He didn't believe me when I told him it had to be that he didn't wait for the ping. I went through the whole opening/closing sequence again, waited for the final beep and problem solved.
When I bought mine, the salesman took me through that whole process and other things to do on my car, eg how to pop the bonnet since the lever is on the passenger side. That little lesson has helped a lot over the years.
