An interesting thread. I have a 2.0 307 (2002) with the same fault - misfire when cold. Faults are intermittent misfire on cylinder 4 etc. In the garage at the moment waiting for the valve lifters to be replaced. Hopefully, this will solve the problem. Had coil packs done under warranty, and when 4 yrs old, but did not sort anything. Would like to keep hold of the car (had since new) but need it to be reliable!!!

Welcome Rash.
Regular oil & filter changes (once a year 10,000 miles) using the correct oil will help I think. 20,000 / 2 years seems too long to me. follow that with an Italian tune-up (as per #15 above).

Thanks for that. I have googled the term italian tune up so have learnt something else today.
Car is due back tomorrow fingers crossed the problem is resolved. Will make sure the oil / filters are changed evey year from now on.
Got onto Peugeot customer care to ask for a "contribution" but they are not interested since I have gone to an independant. Will need to work on that one. I want then to admit there is a common fault as a start. Will just be happy if the car returns running as it should. Will let you know.

Great forum by the way. The knowledge here is quite impressive and very useful.

Car is back. Total spent just under £1400 including new cam belt etc, de-coking valves etc, 16 new tappets etc. Seems to be running fine now.

Peugeot customer care are denying knowledge of a problem with the tappets. Does anybody know where I can get hold of the technical release? A link on this site does not work.

I can see this rumbling on with Peugeot. Anyway, thnx for the advice on the forum. Suspect that without it I would still have the problem.

With a 6 year old car do you really think it's worth pursuing? I wouldn't waste my time personally. The cambelt has been done at the same time so you won't have to pay separately for that when it was due to be changed on a mileage/time basis.

Glad it seems to be sorted now.
