Hey all, considering purchasing a 206CC, I've already had a look around, and found some really nice ones. Does anyone have any advice on what to watch out for?

Also have heard some come with a button on the remote, thats opens the roof, do all models come with that?

Cheers

Hi Mike,
Welcome to the forum.
Good time of the year to buy to get a decent purchase price as they are a job to sell in winter. The remote roof operation is not standard.
You need to make sure that it has been looked after, serviced on time with a perfect record. And make sure it runs perfectly, the roof operates with no problems, and that you get all the handbook, jack, puncture kit, locking wheel nut key, both ignition keys, security card. Buy as new as you can, and note that in general the 1.6 has fewer problems.
If you spend some time reading the forum posts you'll soon learn of all the problems to expect and to watch out for. There are plenty.
People generally sell their cars when things have started to go wrong, or heavy expenditure on servicing (e.g. cambelt due?) is around the corner.
Good luck,
Ron

Hey, thanks for the advice, I've been having a look around, and looks like the roof is the most likely thing to malfunction.

Thanks again

hi, welcome. i am also new. i personally would never touch another 206cc again,i love my car, she is sexy,im not giving up on her yet! i know all cars have problems but jesus, i left the show room with a mot being put on day b4, breaks were put on backwards and no pins, i brought my car 2 months back. i have water in the back seal, i have water all under the carpet, i ahve pass air back deactivated going off, abs fault, stereo now cutting out due to the water gettin in on my electrics, abs sensors is showing up on screen, windows on pass side now dont work but clicks in the boot, the roof sensor wont stop beeping, squeeky breaks,i get water under my feet and my roof creeks. other then that great body work lol. luckily the guy i brought my car from has had a nice but firm callof me as the car was great for the first 2 weeks of buying it, now been on phone to the legal gov dep and they told him to fix my car or give my money back.my advice to u is as i wouldnt want any1 else to get mugged of like i have, is when u find 1 do every check, pull up the carpet, push on carpet behind the front seats , see if any drills have been done as mine had been drilled lol, poor water over the roof while sitting it in, test windows go down b4 roof goes down as my pass dont now, test drive it after u have saturated the car in water, break hard if u dont hear no swishing great. when u open the clips of the roof and push button a beepin should sound dont let go till roof is fully down, windows go down first then roof goes. test breaks. personally for 50 quid id take aa or rac to do full check which is what i should of done. oh do hpi check i nearly spent 5 grand on one that should not even be on the road. good luck and she is a beauty to drive x

I would suggest a car that has been owned by minimum amount of owners and owned for the longest period. High mileage doesn’t appear to be an issue here.

There are some problematic CC's out there. So getting one that has been owned from new should mean that the car has been a good'un. People don’t generally keep cars if they keep going wrong.

Checks: Apart from the obvious car checks I would suggest the following:

Pull the exhaust around and check for rust as these can be expensive to repair specifically check the end silencer coupling on the mid section as this can be relatively expensive to repair, if done properly, due to it being one piece of pipe inclusive of cat. If you here any knocking when pulling on rear silencer then it could mean the exhaust has been replaced with an incorrect unit causing the exhaust to knock against the reinforcment bars.

If you can wash the car over with water to check for leaks would be ideal. Also drive with the roof shut at speed to check for adverse air leak noise.

Check rear boot carpet for roof hydraulic fluid. Obviously check roof operation.

Check the front seat operation. Do they slide back and forth? Do they move correctly for rear seat access?

Check front ball joints. Turn steering tight to end stops and drive in reverse gear (where safe to do so ) and check for any adverse vibration though the steering.

The rest is pot luck. So good luck!
