Hi

I have recently bought a 206cc and there is a clonk or knock when I pull away quickly in first or second gear. It seems to be happening when the clutch is lifted quickly, it feels like the wheels are trying to pull away from the car! Is this normal? If I pull off /lift the clutch slowly there is no noise. I recently had the passenger side CV joint replaced as it was knocking when turning, but this hasn't made any difference to the knock when pulling off. Any help will be much appreciated.

Probably not much help but it sounds like the clutch - maybe the plate is getting stuck somehow as you lift your foot off the clutch and then releasing quickly?

I too have this problem at the moment. There is a knocking noise also when I start the car and when I lift clutch up after changing 1st & 2nd gear.
Just been to an exhaust place incase it may have been the exhaust, but they dont know what it is either!!
Any help would be v much appreciated. Just waiting for a mechanic friend to have a quick look for me.:|

Just an update on my problem - I had a mechanic to drive round for me and could actually get it to "clonk" as well!
Apparently, I have a loose engine mounting but need to take it to a garage to find out which one needs replacing. Hopefully taking it in next week as I had to get my tracking done today (and apparently need a new tyre now) & air-con re-gassed tomorrow!:|

I have that clonk too! How weird. Must be a big problem with these 206cc's. I have had 3 mechanics look at it now, and had a road test from peugout themselves, yet they either can't find anything wrong with it or don't no what it is! Great. SO if anyone finds out then please let me know. Ta. Louise

Hi guys..

I had this problem! Also happened when i reversed! It was my exhaust, it needed re-mounting as the clips had worn away.

Hope this helps

Thanks

I would say these faults sound like an engine mount gone. I'm no expert though.

I think it could be the clutch plates releasing that could make the clonk as i have searched high and low to find the prob and found nothing.

i also have this problem when pulling away in first gear i have to apply more pressure on the gas than i think is normal on other cars and lift the clutch slowly to stop it happening which is a pain at lights etc as it makes for a slow get away...reading the other comments i am thinking it may have something to do with the plate as every now and then my pedals go really stiff... has anybody got this prob identified yet ???

Hi
I have owned a 2.0 lt 206cc for three years and for over a year I have heared a dull clonking noise comming from the front of the car. It occurred if I pulled away sharpley or if the car was travelling on a uneven road. Despite replacing the
Shock Absorbers & Mounts and the right hand Engine Mount the noise still persisted. On futher investigation I discovered a small amont of play in the drivers side Lower Wishbone to Hub ball joint and the Outer Wishbone to Subframe joint.
This had not ever been mentioned at MOT but in replacing the lower Wishbone the
clonk has at last disappeared.
