On Friday 18th January, my boyfriend and I both went to our dealer finalise our purchases of a Peugeot 206 cc and a Honda Civic. Wehad put the deposits down the week before so although the company were aware that we were purchasing this cars, and coming to collect them that day, the cars had not been ready. When we arrived we were told that it would take a few hours for them to be prepared.

I was given my handbook for the car, yet not given the key, so I had to go and ask for the key. After a while a lady bought me the key and told me ‘There is a spare key but its somewhere in my draw’.

Eventually I was given both keys, but I wasn’t told where my car was. I was so fed up of waiting I went and found my car, and just drove it off the forecourt. No one informed me of how the car worked, any of the lights or inside controls, so I had to drive back from Milton Keynes to Essex not even knowing how to adjust the seat. We were left waiting for 3 hours and not one person acknowledging us I thought this company was a joke.

We were told that the cars come with free tax, because we were spending such a lot of money. Yet when I got my tax, my car had already been taxed, MOT’d, and had its safety point chek on 2nd janruary. as the car had already been taxed, MOT’d and checked two weeks earlier, why had I been kept waiting for so long before I could take my car?

they have easily made £2,000 on the purchase of my car, because I have seen cars for a lot less for exactly the same package, yet I was willing to complete the sale because I thought the garage had a decent history and being in association with a Peugeot dealer, I didn’t expect to be ripped off. Then when I traded my car in, they offered me £3,000. This is well below the value, but again I was willing to look past this to just get my car. Then I see they are trying to sell my car for £5,000!

After having my car for just over two weeks, I am not happy. The car has numerous amounts of scratches on the inside, and a larger scratch on the back bumper. There are a few scuffs on the alloy wheels, and other minor scratches in and around the vehicle. Yet what is really annoyed me is the fact that the roof leaks, and the clutch squeaks. After reading other pots i have noticed my car seems to make a strange noise from the back, like something is scratching/rattling inside the boot or something yet i dont no what this could be?

I left this for a while as I thought maybe it was my wet shoes on the pedal that was squeaking, yet it hasn’t gone. I have tried it with bare feet yet it still squeaks. I have to have the radio up so that you can’t hear it; I have paid tnearly 11 grand for a car that is squeaking! And the roof leaks almost constantly, when I washed the car, all the water seeped in, and it will start to wear away the leather which I am not happy about. I have to really slam the doors to get them to shut, otherwise the inside alert keeps going off telling me the door is open. (i dont no if this is a fault r i am just too weak lol)

With the radio being up past ten, the vibrations always knock the gear knob out of gear, (i am assuming it is the radio because it just seems to keep popping out - and i no i am putting it in gear properly!) I will be driving along and suddenly it pops out of gear. I expected more from a dealer, yet I have found nothing put problems with this car, the automatic lights which were advertised were not set up and I had to take the car to Peugeot to get them sorted out. I would have expected this already be done in the check; I am surprised this check even happened considering the state of the car.

Is there any way i can get my money back for the car, as i am starting to think its more trouble than its worth.

I have no idea but just wanted to say how sorry I was for you. I bought a 206cc last week, so far it's great but I just looked through the papers and see the service record on various bills relate to another car!!! (the booklet is right)
Why do so many garages not have the same morals as the majority? Everything has to be checked by us - 'buyer beware', I always remember that when it's too late.
Hope things don't get any worse for you.

This is all down to the dealer I think, mine has been consistantly top notch for 4 years now.

Unfortunately you have a scumbag of a dealer. I bought mine for 14k and it had a squeaking clutch, squeaking brakes, blocked washer and a bit of a leak from the roof. I booked it in and under warranty it was fixed to perfection, and went for 2 years without a hitch before I gave it back and was ripped off a bit in the trade in (this happens to just about everyone so don't worry, sell privately if you want more money).

Probably not what you want to hear. But why did you buy a car with “scratchesâ€

hi, i know for sure that if you brought a warenty off the dealer and its still within its warrenty the dealer has resonsibility toi repair the problems.. ifyou didnt then you cany do anyting about it... sorry to say this but you viewed and tested the car before buying it so assumingly it was fine then else you wouldnt have brought it.. perhaps this is why they kept you waiting as they were trying to quickly hide some of the problems.. it is buyer beware im afraid really a mechanic should have gone with you to view it. although you wouldnt exopect a dealer to rip yopu off he obviously have ... sorry to here this....

hi ignore my last message ... as you brought this car from a dealer you are entitled to your money back or at least for the dealer to fix the problems... seek citizens advice bureaux.... in court this dealer will be slaugtered if he has property sales site.. its only buyer beware if you buy private .. seek small claims court. go online and view small claims website on line.. you pay around £50 and theydo the rest trust me it works.. there is light :-)
