B : Right-hand tail lamp .

C : To the caravan socket .

2 - FITTING THE HARNESS

The caravan towing harness is connected to the left and right rear lights .

Before any repair : Disconnect the battery + terminal .

Vehicle on its wheels .

2 - 1 - STRIPPING THE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT

3 DOOR SALOON 5 DOOR SALOON

Remove :

the boot carpet (19)
the trim (20) (on the right-hand side)
the rear parcel tray

Fold down the rear seat back rests .

Unclip the boot light (22) levering it with a flat screwdriver (At (D)) .

Disconnect the connector for the boot light .

Remove the trim (21) (On the left-hand side) .

CABRIOLET

Remove the luggage compartment carpet (23) .

Remove :

the brackets (24) - (25)
the tool bag (26)
the trim (27) (on the right-hand side)

Remove the supports (28) - (29) .

Unclip the boot light (31) levering it with a flat screwdriver .

Disconnect the connector for the boot light .

Disconnect the connector from the bracket (30) .

Remove the trim (32) (On the left-hand side) .

2 - 2 - CONNECTION OF SECTION (B) OF THE HARNESS : ON THE RIGHT REAR LIGHT

3 DOOR SALOON 5 DOOR SALOON

Plug the towing harness connector (5) into the tail lamp connection board .

Connect the vehicle harness connector (33) to the caravan towing harness connector (6) .

Clip the connector (6) in the location provided (E) .

Clamp the caravan and vehicle towing harnesses together using plastic tie wraps (12) .

CABRIOLET

Disconnect the connector (33) and connect it to the caravan towbar harness connector (6) .

Connect the caravan towing harness connector (5) to the lights circuit board .

Do not use the clip (34) .

Clamp the caravan and vehicle towing harnesses together using plastic tie wraps (12) .

ALL MODELS

2 - 3 - ROUTING OF THE TOWING HARNESS FROM THE RIGHT REAR LIGHT TO THE LEFT REAR LIGHT

Unclip and remove the harness cover (35) .

Route the caravan towing harness from the right rear light to the left rear light by running it alongside the vehicle harness .

Clamp the caravan and vehicle towing harnesses together using plastic tie wraps (12) .

2 - 4 - CONNECTION OF SECTION (A) OF THE HARNESS : ON THE LEFT REAR LIGHT

Attach the tow bar harness earth terminal (2) with the vehicle's earth nut .

Plug the towing harness connector (7) into the tail lamp connection board .

Connect the vehicle harness connector (36) to the caravan towing harness connector (8) .

Connect the connector (3) of the towing harness with the connector of the boot light (For harness(es) : Part nos. 9688.E5 or 9688.E6) .

Clip the connector (8) in the location provided (F) .

Clamp the caravan and vehicle towing harnesses together using plastic tie wraps (12) .

CABRIOLET

Secure the terminal (2) of the towing harness to the vehicle earth nut (37) .

Disconnect the connector (36) and connect it to the caravan towbar harness connector (8) .

Plug the towing harness connector (7) into the tail lamp connection board .

Connect the connector (3) of the towing harness with the connector (39) of the boot light (For harness(es) : Part nos. 9688.E5 or 9688.E6) .

Do not use the clip (38) .

Clamp the caravan and vehicle towing harnesses together using plastic tie wraps (12) .

ALL MODELS

2 - 5 - ROUTING OF THE TOWING HARNESS FROM THE BOOT TO THE FOG LAMP

Remove the sleeve (40) .

Insert the tow bar harness into the grommet and fit the grommet (use soap to ease the passage of the harness in the grommet) .

Check that the grommet is properly fitted in the hole to ensure sealing .

Clip the harness cover (35) .

2 - 6 - CONNECTION OF SECTION (C) OF THE HARNESS : ON THE FOG LIGHT

With the vehicle on a lift .

Disconnect the rear fog lamp connector .

Connect the tow bar harness connector (10) to the fog lamp .

Connect the vehicle harness connector (41) to the caravan towing harness connector (9) .

Clip the connector (9) in the location provided (G) .

2 - 7 - PASSAGE OF SECTION (C) OF THE HARNESS INTO THE SEALING SLEEVE

Adapt the diameter of the sealing sleeve (16) to the diameter of the harness (C) .

Engage the sealing sleeve (16) on the towbar harness (C) .

2 - 8 - CONNECTION OF SECTION (C) OF THE HARNESS

Unclip the socket (17) from the base (1) .

7-way socket :

terminal no. 1L : yellow wire for left-hand indicator
terminal no. 2/54g : orange wire for fog light feed
terminal no. 3/31 : green/yellow earth wire 1 mm2
terminal no. 4/R : blue wire for right-hand indicator
terminal no. 5/58R : beige wire for right-hand side light
terminal no. 6/54 : violet wire for brake light
terminal no. 7/58L : black wire for left-hand side light
terminal no. C : grey wire for fog light return

13-way socket :

terminal no. 1 : yellow wire for left-hand indicator
terminal no. 2 : orange wire for fog light feed
terminal no. 3 : green/yellow earth wire 1 mm2
terminal no. 4 : blue wire for right-hand indicator
terminal no. 5 : beige wire for right-hand side light
terminal no. 6 : violet wire for brake light
terminal no. 7 : black wire for left-hand side light
terminal no. 8 : white wire for reverse lamp
terminal no. 9 : red wire for permanent +ve supply
terminal no. 13 : green/yellow earth wire 3 mm2
terminal no. C : grey wire for fog light return

Connect wire (N) to terminal no. 2 .

7 / 13-way socket :

terminal no. 1L : yellow wire for left-hand indicator
terminal no. 2/54g : orange wire for fog light feed
terminal no. 3/31 : green/yellow earth wire 1 mm2
terminal no. 4/R : blue wire for right-hand indicator
terminal no. 5/58R : beige wire for right-hand side light
terminal no. 6/54 : violet wire for brake light
terminal no. 7/58L : black wire for left-hand side light
terminal no. 8 : white wire for reverse lamp
terminal no. 9 : red wire for permanent +ve supply
terminal no. 13 : green/yellow earth wire 3 mm2
terminal no. C : grey wire for fog light return

Connect wire (N) to terminal no. 2/54g .

2 - 9 - SECURING THE SOCKET TO THE TOWBAR

Clip the socket (17) to the base (1) .

Fit the base assembly, the socket and the sleeve onto the towing frame with the fittings .

Seal the caravan towbar harness connection (C) with the sealing sleeve (16) of the socket using the blocks of mastic (18) .

Clamp the caravan towing harness along the coupling as far as the socket, with plastic tie wraps (11) - (12) .

Reconnect the positive terminal of the battery .

Reconnect :

the connector (4) of the towing harness with the boot light
the connector from the bracket (30)

Reconnect the connector (4) of the towing harness with the boot light and the bracket connector (30) .

Ensure that the vehicle rear lights and the front caravan socket are functioning correctly before refitting the luggage compartment trim .
