REMOVAL - REFITTING PANORAMIC ROOF

1 - REMOVAL

IMPERATIVE : store the concealing blind in its housing .

Remove :

• THE HEADLINING
• THE SCREEN BLIND SUB-ASSEMBLY
• the finishers
• the radio aerial
• the windscreen upper seal

Protect :

• the fascia
• the front and rear seats

ROUTE THE AWL [1C] ACROSS THE BEAD OF ADHESIVE, FROM THE INSIDE OUTWARDS IN THE LEFT FRONT CORNER .

Route the cutting-out wire in the awl and pass it into the interior, then screw it onto the bolt (1) .

Route the cutting-out wire around the whole of the glass roof in the (A) direction and route a 50 cm length of it to the interior again .

SECURE THE OTHER END OF THE CUTTING-OUT WIRE IN THE COILING DEVICE AND FIT THE RETURN ROLLER [1] .

WARNING : when tensioning the cutting-out wire, ensure that the wire is placed correctly under the moulded seal ; at the slightest resistance of the wire on cutting, slacken it and help it to pass the obstacle (support shims, excessively thick bead of adhesive or panel junction) .

Cut out the first part as far as the centre .

Move the coiling device as shown on figure and fit the return roller .

Route the wire as indicated on the diagram .

Continue the cut until the wire is no longer guided by the guide pulley; then, remove the guide pulley and continue the cut .

Cut out in accordance with the above view, in the same conditions as previously .

Move the coiling device as shown on the figure and continue cutting out .

Route the wire as indicated on the diagram .

Continue the cut until the wire is no longer guided by the guide pulley; then, remove the guide pulley and continue the cut .

Cut out in accordance with the above view, in the same conditions as previously .

Repeat these operations for the other side .

REMOVE THE GLASS ROOF USING THE 4 DOUBLE SUCTION CUPS [4] .

2 - REFITTING

2 - 1 - PREPARATIONS FOR REFITTING THE GLASS

In the case of glass cut out without any damage :

• CUT THE RESIDUE FROM THE BONDING AND SEALING PRODUCT FROM THE GLASS AND ON THE PANEL EDGE WITH THE ELECTRIC KNIFE FITTED WITH BLADE [15] NO. 146, IN ORDER TO OBTAIN A SMOOTH SURFACE, BUT WITHOUT TOTALLY ELIMINATING THE RESIDUE
• the product residue serves as a base and ensures adhesion of the bonding and sealing product to be applied

WARNING : do not apply primer to the surface to be bonded and do not treat it with the cleaning solvent .

In the event of new glass :

• clean the bonding area around the edge of the glass with degreasing agent
• APPLY THE GLASS PRIMER SELECTED FROM THE ADHESIVE KIT
• drying time: approximately 10 minutes

Windscreen aperture flange reworked :

• if the windscreen aperture flange has been reworked or replaced, the layers of paint should be built up again and, if necessary, the anticorrosion protection operations should be carried out
• FIRST CLEAN THE REWORKED AREA WITH CLEANING SOLVENT SELECTED FROM THE BONDING KIT AND THEN APPLY THE METAL PRIMER
• drying time: approximately 10 minutes

2 - 2 - OFFERING UP THE GLASS ROOF TO THE VEHICLE

PLACE THE 4 SHIMS [1F] ON THE SIDE FLANGES .

Centre the glass roof using the shims [1f] and stamping (2) on the roof crossmember .

Place adhesive strips (3) on the outside for the front and on the inside for the rear .

Cut out adhesive strips (3) which will be used as markers for the final position .

Remove the glass roof .

AV = Front .

FIT THE MASTIC MIXER ASSEMBLY TO THE EXTRUDER GUN [10] .

Take the nozzle supplied in the bonding kit .

Cut the nozzle to 8 mm dia. at 12 mm from the tip WITH THE PLIERS [7] .

Align the bead of adhesive :

• 10 mm at the front
• 10 mm on the sides
• 15 mm at the rear

IMPERATIVE : the time between depositing the mastic and positioning the glass roof must not exceed 8 mins. for rapid bonding adhesives .

Positioning of the double suction cups [4] on the glass roof before placing on the vehicle .

WARNING : for the following operation three people are required, two to bring the glass headlining above the vehicle and one sitting in the rear seats to support it while it is being adjusted to the markers (3) and the shims [1f] .

Refit the glass roof to the vehicle, taking care to centre it in relation to the markers (3) and the shims [1f] .

With your hands apply a slight pressure around the edge .

Refit the upper windscreen seal .

Re-check the position of the glass roof in relation to the markers .

EXERT A CONSTANT PRESSURE USING THE SUCTION CUPS WITH WIRES [5] .

Allow to cure for 30 minutes before handling (For the quick bonding adhesive mastics) .

Fit :

• THE SCREEN BLIND SUB-ASSEMBLY
• THE HEADLINING

Continue the fitting operations in the reverse order to removal .
