REMOVAL - REFITTING WINDSCREEN

1 - REMOVAL

Open the bonnet .


Remove :

Remove the front retaining grips or closers .

Partly unclip the door frame seals .

Using a wedge, move aside the front part of the roof trim .


Remove :


Cover the tip of the awl with soapy water .

ROUTE THE AWL [1C] ACROSS THE BEAD OF ADHESIVE, IN THE LEFT LOWER CORNER, FROM THE INSIDE OUTWARDS .

Thread the cutting wire into the awl and pass it towards the interior (approximately 50 cm) .

On the outside, route the cutting-out wire around the screen, following the arrows .

Firmly secure the end of the cutting-out wire on the bonnet mounting (4) .

IMPERATIVE : wedge the supply wire of the rain sensor using an adhesive strip on the upper crossmember, in order not to damage it .


FROM THE INSIDE, SECURE THE END OF THE CUTTING-OUT WIRE ON THE COILING DEVICE [1A] .

WARNING : when the cutting-out wire is tensioned, ensure that the wire is correctly placed under the screen .

Start cutting out as far as the centre of the windscreen .


Move the tool [1a] .

Continue to cut-out .


Secure the tool [1a] .

Move the tool [1b] .

As soon as the wire is no longer being guided, move the tools .


Move the tools [1a] - [1b] .

Observe the correct routing of the wire .

Continue to cut-out .


Move the tools [1a] - [1b] .

Observe the correct routing of the wire .

Continue to cut-out .


Move the tools [1a] - [1b] .

Observe the correct routing of the wire .

Continue to cut-out .


Move the tools [1a] - [1b] .

Observe the correct routing of the wire .

Continue to cut-out .

Remove the windscreen using hinged suction cups [4] .

2 - REFITTING

2 - 1 - RE-USED WINDSCREEN

SMOOTH THE BEADS OF ADHESIVE ON THE GLASS AND THE FLANGE WITH THE ELECTRIC KNIFE FITTED WITH [15] BLADE NO. 146; DO NOT TOTALLY REMOVE THE RESIDUE .

NOTE : the residue improves bonding of adhesive and sealing products .

WARNING : do not apply primer to the surface to be bonded and do not treat it with the cleaning solvent .

2 - 2 - NEW WINDSCREEN

CLEAN THE BONDING AREA AROUND THE EDGE OF THE GLASS WITH DEGREASING AGENT .

Apply the glass primer .

Drying time: approximately 10 minutes .

Windscreen aperture flange reworked :

3 - REFITTING


SECURE THE RETAINING SHIMS [2] AT (A) TO SUPPORT AND POSITION THE SCREEN WHEN REFITTING IT .

Position the glass on the screen .

Put adhesives (5) at (B) (boundary marks for definitive positioning of the screen) .

Cut the tape .


Fit the mastic mixer assembly to the extruder gun .

Take the nozzle supplied in the bonding kit : Cut the nozzle to 8 mm dia. at 12 mm from the tip : USING THE TOOL [7] .

Apply the bead of adhesive :

Replace the windscreen surround seal .

Position the shims at the points indicated on the lower flange .

IMPERATIVE : no more than 8 minutes must elapse between applying the mastic and positioning the glass ; for the quick bonding adhesive mastics .


Position the glass opposite the boundary marks : USING THE SUCTION CUPS [4] .

EXERT A CONSTANT PRESSURE USING THE SUCTION CUPS WITH WIRES [5] .

Allow to dry according to the instructions in the adhesive kit .

Remove the glass retaining shims [2] .

Proceed in the reverse order to removal .
