LEAKAGE CHECK

WARNING : this procedure is to be carried out following any work on the roof, the boot, the windows, or the seals .

NOTE : two operators are necessary (one operator sprays the vehicle, another operator inside the vehicle looks for any entry of water using a torch) .

Prior conditions :

1 - SPRAYING

Spray using a jet of water at a pressure of approximately 3 to 4 bars (with a flow of approximately 10 litres/min) fitted with an end piece type JARDINIER permitting spraying in "rain" mode .

Spray (keep the end piece at a distance of approximately 50 cm from the area concerned) .

The spraying time is approximately 10 to 15 minutes .

Soaking the vehicle is a very important part of the water entry detection procedure .

NOTE : follow the spraying order which permits the detection of water entry over the shortest period of time .

IMPERATIVE : spray from bottom to top in the order indicated .

(1) Spraying level : Floor .

(2) Spraying level : Wheel arch .

(3) Spraying level : Tail lamps, Door hinges .

(4) Spraying level : Body side .

(5) Spraying level : Folding roof .

WARNING : the use of high pressure equipment is prohibited .

The points (6), (7), (8) are in the centre line of the vehicle .

The points (9), (10) are at the side of the vehicle .

IMPERATIVE : the water must be sprayed via a 40 ° diffusing cone (in a mist) .

2 - CHECK

Check :

Carry out the sealing operations in line with the water entry area .

NOTE : if water entry is detected, seal the area immediately and resume spraying at the phase which caused the water entry, in order to check the work carried out and verify that there is no further infiltration ; it is also necessary to take into account that, in certain cases, water entry from different sources reaches the same point, which could lead to confusion .
