REMOVAL - REFITTING REAR BRAKE PADS (BRAKE CALIPER BENDIX, SERIES 4G)
1 - RECOMMENDED TOOLS
[1] FACOM D60A type pliers .
2 - REMOVAL
Remove the filter from the brake fluid reservoir .
Partially drain the brake fluid reservoir using a clean syringe .
Fit : The filter .
Remove the pin (1), the cotter (2) .
Remove the brake pads .
Visually check :
Replace any defective parts .
NOTE : if the groove (A) is no longer visible, the pads must be changed .
Throroughly clean around the piston (3), the caliper (6) and the brake disc using a suitable solvent (Type HENKEL) .
Turn the piston and push it fully into its housing ( Using the tool [1]) .
3 - REFITTING
IMPERATIVE : turn the piston (3) so that the reference (B) is positioned horizontally above or below the groove (C) in the piston .
Fit the inner pad (With its spring) .
NOTE : the inner pad has a lug .
Fit the outer pad (With its spring) .
Bring the two pads in contact with the top edge (7) of the caliper .
Lock in place with the cotter pin (2) .
Fit a new stop pin (1) .
Check the brake fluid level and top up if necessary .
Apply the brakes, with the engine running, several times before driving the vehicle .
Pull the handbrake lever normally approximately ten times .
Tighten the wheel bolts to 8.5 da.Nm .
