REMOVAL - REFITTING DRIVE SHAFTS

1 - SPECIAL TOOLS

[1]Set of 2 spring retaining rods (-).0918 Z .

[2] hub immobilising tool (-).0606 AY .

[3] Lever for uncoupling pivot ball joints (-).0622 .

[4] Final drive output oil seal fitting drifts (-). 0317 T, (-).0317 U .

2 - REMOVAL

Use a wheel free lift .

Position the spring retaining rods [1] .

Remove :

Use tool [2] to prevent the hub from turning .

Remove the nut (3) .

Raise the vehicle .

Drain the gearbox .

Slacken the nuts (4) (Fully) .

Turn the bolts a quarter turn .

Remove the bolt (5) .

Detach the swivel ball joint (Using the tool [3]) .

Immobilise the lower wishbone in the lower position (use a dowel at A) .

Detach the drive shaft from the hub .

Remove the drive shaft .

Retrieve the deflector (6) .

3 - REFITTING

Check :

REPAIR OF THE DRIVE SHAFTS GLAENZER SPICER .

REPAIR OF THE DRIVE SHAFTS PSA .

Clean and coat with TOTAL 3945 multi-purpose grease the splines of the hub and of the driveshaft at the wheel end .

Clean and coat with TOTAL 3945 multi-purpose grease the outer bush of the bearing roller (9) and its housing in the right-hand lower engine mounting .

Always fit new oil seals using the fitting drifts [4] .

Apply grease to the space between the oil seal lips .

Refit the driveshaft in the differential .

On the right-hand side ; Place the deflector in its groove (C) .

Fit :

Remove the tool [3] .

Pre-tighten a bearing nut (4) to 0.7 daN.m .

Tighten the other bearing nut (4) to 1.35 daN.m .

Complete the tightening of the first nut to 1.35 daN.m .

Coat with MOLYKOTE D321R type grease the surface and the threads of nut (3) .

Use tool [2] to prevent the hub from turning .

Tightening torque for the nut (3) :

Fit :

Tighten the wheel bolts to 8.5 da.Nm .

FILL THE GEARBOX TO THE CORRECT LEVEL .
