REMOVAL-REFITTING INTERMEDIATE SILENCER

1 - SPECIAL TOOLS

On the EW10J4 engines, the intermediate silencer is integral with the catalytic converter .

Replacement of one of the parts necessitates cutting off the exhaust line according to the attached method .

2 - SPECIAL TOOLS

3 - REMOVAL

Place the vehicle on a lift .

Replacing a silencer involves a cut in the area marked with a stamping (A) .

NOTE : if the indentation is not visible, cut off the line of the intermediate silencer at X = 170 mm .

Position the pipe cutter [1] on the pipe at the pressing (A) .

Cut the pipe .

WARNING : oil the tool chain liberally during the cutting operation remove the intermediate silencer .

4 - REFITTING

Position the silencer .

Position the sleeve (1) from the repair kit (Part Number 1736.06) by centralising it in relation to the cut in the pipes .
