OVERHAUL INJECTORS
1 - SPECIAL TOOLS
[1] injector socket (-).0149 .
[2] support for injector holder (-).0117-AJ .
[3] Calibration pump FACOM 916.A type .
2 - DISMANTLING
Clamp the support [2] in the vice .
Unscrew the injector holder using the socket [1] .
Maintain the matching of needle and nozzle .
Immerse the parts in test fluid .
3 - REASSEMBLY
NOTE : the fire ring (1) must be fitted, with its curved side towards the nut (2) .
Lubricate the parts with test fluid before fitting .
Tighten the assembly : 3.5 da.Nm+14°5 .
4 - CHECKING THE INJECTORS
IMPERATIVE : use a suitable test fluid .
WARNING : never expose the hands to the spray; risk of injury and serious blood poisoning, the sprayed fluid catches fire very easily .
4 - 1 - CHECK SEALING
Pressure gauge in circuit .
Dry the end of the injector .
Operate the pump lever .
Maintain a pressure 10 bars below the calibration pressure .
No drop should fall from the injector within 30 seconds .
4 - 2 - CHECK SPRAY PATTERN AND INJECTOR GRUNT
Pressure gauge isolated .
Operate the pump lever with short sharp strokes The injector should produce a very fine and even spray .
At a frequency of one or two strokes a second, the injector should have a very soft grunt .
With more rapid strokes, the grunt should disappear .
4 - 3 - CHECK CALIBRATION PRESSURE
Pressure gauge isolated .
Give several rapid pump strokes to bleed the circuit .
Pressure gauge in circuit .
Operate the pump lever very slowly .
Read the pressure at the moment the injector opens .
Calibration pressure 10 bar(s) .
4 - 4 - ADJUSTMENT - CALIBRATION PRESSURE
The calibration is adjusted by means of a thicker or thinner shim (3) .
NOTE : a change in shim thickness of 0,10 mm gives, on average, a calibration pressure change of 10 bars .
WARNING : if faulty parts are found during removal, the measured injector/injector holder must be replaced, replacing the injector alone is not permitted .
