REMOVAL - REFITTING TIMING BELT
1 - SPECIAL TOOLS

[1] Engine tdc setting (-).1054 .
2 - REMOVAL
Place the vehicle on a two-post ramp .
Remove the battery tray .
Disconnect the battery .
Remove :

Remove the timing covers (1) .

Set the engine at tdc using the tool [1], aligning the identification marking (A) of the crankshaft pinion with the fixed mark (B) on the oil pump body .

Check the alignment of the camshaft pulley marking (C) with the fixed mark (D) .

Unscrew the nut (2) of the dynamic tensioner roller .
WARNING : do not detach the lug roller from the housing ribbing .
Detension the belt using a six-sided spanner .
Remove the timing belt .
3 - REFITTING

Take care to position the lug (E) correctly in theribbing (F) .
Keep the crankshaft pinion in position using theaccessory drive pulley bolt .
Check that the camshaft identification mark and the crankshaft pinion are correctly positioned .

Fit the timing belt, aligning the marks (C) of the timing belt with those on the camshaft pinion (outside edge of the belt) and the crankshaft (A)(inside edge of the belt) .
Remove the tool [1] from the engine flywheel .

Using a 6 mm six-sided spanner, bring the movable pointer (G) of the tensioner roller to the position indicated .
Tighten the nut (2) on the tensioner roller to 2.4 dan.m .
Effect 6 clockwise turns of the crankshaft .
Set the engine at top dead centre, using tool [1] .
Remove the tool [1] .

Unscrew by a maximum of one turn the nut (2) from the tensioner roller, holding it with the six-sided 6 mm spanner, then gradually bring the movable pointer (G) to the setting window .
Tighten the nut to 2.4 da.Nm .
Refit the screw of the pulley driving the accessories .
Refit the timing covers (1) .
Refit the ancillaries drive pulley .
Tighten the bolt to 4 da.Nm + 70° ± 5° .
fit the ancillary drive belt .
Refit the right-hand engine mounting .
Tightening torque 5.5 da.Nm .
Continue the fitting operations in the reverse order to removal .
